The answer provided is incorrect. It will be D. While statement 1 is evaluated properly in the above two submissions, statement two leads to only one PRIME value of p, (amongst the 4 values 607,608, 610 and 612). Statement 2 alone is sufficient too.

D is the answer

You are using info from (1), p - q = 605, when evaluating (2). When evaluating the second statement we only know that p and q are prime numbers (from the stem) and that q is less than 10 (from (2)). That's it. So, A is correct here.
