Please help me evaluate my profile.

I work with french bank as an investment analyst and have more than 8 years of work experience. I have completed my CFA certification. I did my graduation in Bsc microbiology and post-graduation in Masters in management from Mumbai University.

I am looking to apply for Masters in finance at LBS 2019 batch.

I do not have gmat score. I wrote an email to the ad-com team asking for a gmat waiver but unfortunately I was refused one.

How much score would be enough for my profile to be considered?

hey guys, I am a graduate from a canadian univetsity, one of the schools the has the toughest grading system e.g. McGill, U of T.

I am quite concerned due to my low gpa which is 3.2.
First Year: 3.7
Second Year: 2.08 with an F, C+, B-s, 3.3
Third Year: 3.2
Fourth Year: 3.2

My gmat score is 730 and I am a Canadian CPA working at PwC’s audit department.
CFA lvl2

Should I apply as a Canadian citizen or Korean citizen?

Will the admissio committee take into consideration that I am from one of the toughest school from Canada that gives really low grades?

Hi gofhddl94,

thank you for your post.

LBS, as most European b-schools, doesn't put as much emphasis on GPA as US schools do. In a way, this has to do with the fact that most applicants don't come from schools where the GPA grading system is used. Therefore, in principle, your 3.2 GPA shouldn't put you in disadvantage.

Furthermore, your 730 GMAT score is a clear indication of your academic capacity.

This being said, you might want to use the Optional Essay to talk about any extenuating circumstances that explain your college grades (including that F).

Regarding applying as Canadian vs. Korean, from a diversity perspective, typically there are more Canadians applying than Koreans. Therefore, in this regard, you might be better off applying as Korean as first nationality and Canadian as second.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Dear SG2005,

I cannot tell you how happy seeing your profile made me. I share a lot of your qualifications and experiences. (MBBS, MO work, Age at admission etc.)

First things first: Getting a good score (>720) on the GMAT is extremely important for you. It will help address the admission committee's concerns about doctor's quantitative prowess head on.
1.Your work experience will enable you to stand out. And you will add a lot of diversity and value to the class and will also be an "asset" to healthcare firms
2.Your involvement in social projects outside of work is a key driver of your success in the application process. You will have to craft strong stories to highlight what you have done and how that has helped people.
    3. For us (Doctors) it is extremely important to show that we know the "business" side of healthcare. If your MO role was like mine you should have that locked down too. (Drug inventory management, finances etc.). Again it will boil down to making these things evident in your essays
    4. Your career goals are fascinating, and align extremely well with your past experiences

Having graduated from Duke I know that it has very strong healthcare recruiting numbers. The BMGF, RAND Corporation recruit heavily at the school. (Melinda Gates is a Fuqua alum).

I was EXACTLY where you are 8 years ago and am happy to chat about my experiences with you.

Best of luck.
