- Work as a technical engineer at a top tier O&G company dealing with day-to-day operations. Most of my work involves serving as a technical liaison to operations in order to optimize production.

1) really get to know these schools and understand what about each one is special for you.

2) Make an effort to build your leadership profile- both inside and outside of work. Think not just about what you did for outside groups, but also the impact you have had. Quantify this if you can and think about how you can be even more effective with new skills learned from an MBA. For a good read on how to build your leadership profile- review here:

3) Know which firms in O&G industry consulting you would target and why and talk to people who work there now so you have a realistic idea of the skills you need to build in your MBA. This will all help your essays to sound so much more realistic. And finally,
