Quite a helpful thread thanks to the collaborative effort of all the Rotman applicants! You all already imbibe the values of a good MBA student :P

I gave the assessment today:

Video:
- MOCK: If you could make a donation to a cause of your choice, what would that cause be?
- Video 1: What makes Toronto a special place to study and work in?
- Video 2: Out of the 4 seasons, which one is your favourite and why?

TWR:
- MOCK: "Paying it forward" is a part of the Rotman values through which second year students advise, coach and mentor first year students. Write an email to a Rotman second year student whom you haven't met to express your interest in meeting because of your career interest
- Imagine you are in an elevator with the hiring manager of your dream company. Please mention your elevator pitch below

Please DM in case you need any other advice regarding this particular component of the application.

Hi Guys,

Can someone explain the Rotman pre-recorded interview pattern? I am a bit confused about how the interview works.

As of now, I understand that we have to answer:
- 2 video questions (30 sec prep time and the 90-sec answer should be recorded for each question)
- 1 writeup (get 10 min to write about 250 to 500 words)
Is this the correct understanding? or am I missing something?
Can someone please revert back on this?

Thank you in advance.

Can the answer be funny? Asking because when they ask questions like what's your favourite emoji, doesn't it warrant for a humorous response?

Just gave my Rotman video interview.

Got the below questions (paraphrased):

Video:

Practice: What is your most favorite city and why?

Official 1: If you could be a teacher and teach any subject or skill what would it be and why?
Official 2: How will you prioritize between "Physical", "Mental", "Emotional" and "Spiritual"?

Timed Written Essay

Practice: Prior to start of classes Rotman Faculty and others review the class profile book to see the background, talents and achievements of all admitted students. Write a brief paragraph introducing yourself that you would like to see included in the MBA class profile book.

Official: Applying for an MBA programs can be a tough task from shortlisting schools to filling applications. Write a note to a Rotman ambassador asking questions about the program or any queries you might have.

I would recommend sparing 1.5 minutes in the end for the written essay to proof-read for any typos, grammar and spelling errors. Made this mistake. :)

If you are studying at university, then most likely you need to write a thesis project for a DNP in nursing. I didn't know how to do it myself, so I looked for an option to order writing from specialists. I managed to find dnp capstone project writers and I just asked them for help. And they did this project for me individually. The price turned out to be inexpensive, and I am personally very pleased that I turned to these professionals. After all, they helped me with this issue.

Video Question 1: What would you like to speak about all day every day?

Video Question 2: What would be that thing which you would like to put off as long as possible from doing?

Written Question :

Imagine you have recently finished your first year at Rotman and write a post for your LinkedIn community describing your experiences so far and things you are excited to pursue in your second year.

1. what is your hobby?
2. do you like WFH or work from the office?

1. If you could trade houses with anyone in the world, which city would you choose
2. What is something that you would put off if you could
TWR: Something around writing a mail to the committee to select you for an international business elective.

From Unnatpreet18

1. How would you introduce yourself to someone who doesn’t know you?
2. How would you prioritise the following aspects of life - Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Spiritual?

Written Assessment - Write an email to the hiring manager you met at a networking event requesting for a follow-up meeting

From MBAB123

2. If you could pick any job without financial constraints what would you pick

From averma91
1. Who is your mentor outside your family and why?
2. What is your mobile wallpaper and why that image?

From MilitaryPilot
Video essay questions I got -
1. Apart from money, what else would keep you in your current organization?
2. What is your favorite emoji and why?

Written task -
Write an email to a hiring manager you met at a recent networking event requesting a follow-up meeting.

From SmartWhiz1995
Video:
1)What is one good thing that you make?
2)What is one good habit and one bad habit of yours?

From 86vasundhara
Video
1. If had to delete all apps but 3 from my phone, which ones would I keep and why?
2. Would you rather be perfect and late or good and on time?

Written
1. Write a blog post telling incoming students why you chose to apply to Rotman.

From 800Dreamer
1. If got a chance, what subject will you teach.
2. Out of 4 seasons, what you like the most

Written essay :
Write a LinkedIn post sharing your 1st-year experience and what you see for 2nd year.

From rotmanhopeful21
Video Essay:
Mostly behavioral questions. Something about yourself that you should be able to answer instantly (3-5 seconds taped video question - 30 seconds prep time - 1 min 30 seconds actual response time). Mine were:
1. What do you make really well?
2. If you had an extra hour every day, what would you do with this time?
MOCK: Tell me about a failure from which you learned something.

Some good practices: Utilize the 30 secs prep time well. Practice at least 10-15 similar questions before you start taking the actual test; that way, you'll "get in the zone" by the time you start the real test. Try not to speak on more than 2-3 factors. Be reflective about what you say. It's better if you analyze the behavior using factors/reasons/learning points depending on the question you have been provided with.

TWR:
Within 10 minutes, read the prompt, deconstruct the scenario, formulate your answer, and finish drafting (something). Mine were:
1. Write an email to a Rotman alumni asking for his/her time for a coffee chat.
MOCK: Write a paragraph introducing yourself to the AdCom trying to decide on the incoming students.

Some good practices: Try to finish within 8 minutes and keep the last 2 minutes for edits. Probably write not more than 150-200 words (completely my personal opinion though) if you want to finish within time. If you are a regular email writer, this section shouldn't be a problem for you other than the 10 minutes time crunch.

From JingboChen94

1. who is your role model outside your family
2. what are your one good habit and one bad habit.
3. if you are writing a blog for incoming students, what would you write

From Businessconquerer

So, the questions need to be answered in 1:30 seconds
You will have 30 secs to think.

2 video questions and one impromptu written question.

The video questions, including the practice questions were kinda general STAR questions
1 Tell us about a failure from which you learnt
2 If you had no monetary of financial benefit of quitting a job, what job would you prefer doing?
3 If you wanted to stop ageing, at what age would you stop and why?

Written Questions-
1. Write a letter of resignation to your office people telling about your MBA plans
2. A year has passed after your Rotman MBA, write down a linkedin post summarising your past and what you look forward to doing in the future?

Also, it was not a kira platform. It was an inbuilt rotman platform

I suggest you even take the practice questions well, they get saved as well and I don't believe a word these money hungry, sweet talking, backstabbing, egotistical and disrespectful Adcom Members say in their sessions or fairs.
Also, I don't believe words of people who just say nothing out of anything.

From dupuis2304
Video:
If you made a donation to the cause of your choice, what would the cause be? (mock)
