No buddy. I am NOT suspecting your score, but i am curious to know the algorithm system.
No need to attach screenshot, but if experts need you can.

Hey All,

This is Milind.
I am preparing for GMAT and I took one of the free mocks available when I created an account.
I have not prepared anything for the GMAT at all so far.
My Scores are as follows

Overall 640
Quant Q50 [ Mistakes PS: 1 and DS: 6]
Verbal V25 [ Mistakes SC: 9, RC: 5, CR: 3]

Clearly I have miles to go in all Verbal Areas.
What would be the suggested way to prepare verbal?

Resources I can get from Local Library:
1. GMAT OG
2. MGMAT Books

Hello IanStewart
I'm really confused in scoring system here! :? Is it possible to get Q50 by making 7 mistakes? I'll appreciate your help on it. Could you elaborate, please?
Thanks__

You can get a Q50 with more than seven mistakes. It all depends on how difficult the questions are. If you took a test full of 750-level questions, and made only seven mistakes, you'd certainly get a Q50. If you took a test full of 400-level questions, and made seven mistakes, you would not get a Q50.

On the old GMATPrep tests (the 37 question ones), I've seen Q50 scores from test takers with roughly 14 wrong answers. Those tests had lots of hard questions in the database though. Some of the newer official tests do not have many hard questions, which makes it much harder to score that well if you have several wrong answers.

On the real GMAT, it's likely you'll see a lot of hard questions if you are truly a Q50-level test taker (unless you get off to a bad start and need to recover by answering a lot of easier questions -- the test is adaptive, after all). So on the real test, high-level test takers usually can get away with several wrong answers.

Hi Milind! Since you mention SC as your specific area of concern, thought I would mention that our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.

After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!

The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.

See here how Mohit, who scored 750 on GMAT, vouches for our book.

If you want to sample a chapter before deciding to go ahead with our book, please PM me your mail-id (along with the chapter that you would like to sample) and I will be happy to send that chapter to you by mail. In addition, the entire Grammar section of the book is also available for free preview at pothi.
