Hi all,

Question for those of you who have received interview invite or have interviewed already. What is the status on your portal? I interviewed on campus 12/6. But the status on my portal still says "submitted." Is anyone experiencing the same?

Hey buddy. I interview on same day. I recall my interviewer said 3-4 weeks. And my portal still say “submitted” today.

Hi guys! Just got news from Stern:
Admitted!!!

The response came very quickly actually.. my interview was just last Thursday, the 13th
4 business days later and I just received the good news..

Very chilled and conversational!
We talked a lot about my staying in NYC, the cold weather and stuff like that to break the ice..
Then she asked a few standard questions about my short and long term goals, where did I see myself working after the MBA and why, what activities I was planning on getting involved with when at Stern..
And then at the end she told me to dont expect an answer until after the holidays!
Guess I got lucky that way..

Overall she made me feel very comfortable and calm, made it a lot easier

Got waitlisted without an interview, but I heard internationals get interviews earliest in March. Is this a default or could I have also immediately gotten a thumbs down?

I got waitlisted as well.. I've heard of US candidates getting off the waitlist super late. but they do give internationals a decision earlier because of the visa issues. All adcom says that for internationals R2 (juanuary deadline) should be the latest you apply. So yeah, I'd guess its fair to assume you'll get a final decision by late march/april. I'll be rejecting the waitlist since I got into Haas. Stern was my top choice originally because of NYC, but I really fell in love with Haas during the process. Good luck!

Once invited to interview international applicants have the option of interviewing on NYU Stern campus before March. It's just that many choose not to because of logistics and scheduling issues. In my case, I received an interview invite in November and I immediately booked a flight to NYC for the interview. I think it was wonderful to visit the school and talk to people there in person. Though I understand it's a big ask and it's hard for many international applicants to fly in from so far away (and often on short notice) for the interview.

Hey all. I received an invitation to interview yesterday which is incredibly exciting. Short notice interview invitation however is difficult as I am Australian and due to the nature of my work, taking annual leave is banned for January and February (audit busy season). I know that Skype interviews are virtually never granted but does anybody know if the international interviews (say in China for instance) are held over a range of dates or are quite rigid (ie they come for one day)? NYU is the top school for me so want to make this work but trying to be upfront with the school and manage work who are not onboard with me doing this in the first place.
