Which if the following most logically completes the argument?
United States manufacturers currently produce most of the world's solar-power generators – most of which are exported to Europe. However, European manufacturers are emerging and probably will ultimately capture much of the European market. The United States government is funding initiatives intended to encourage use of solar power within the United States. If these initiatives succeed in increasing the demand for solar-power generators in the United States, United States manufacturers will probably maintain significant production levels, since ---------------

A. some United States manufacturers have been substantially increasing their output over the last several years.
B. the efficiency of solar-power generators in converting energy from the Sun into electric power is not improving as fast as it once did
C. Just as European manufacturers enjoy certain advantages in Europe, so do United States manufacturers in the United States.
D. European government are currently undertaking initiatives to stimulate the use of solar power within Europe
E. the current market for solar-power generators in the United States is very limited.

Why the correct answer is C and not A? Can someone please tell?

The argument states that European manufacturers will capture much of the European market - i.e. take share from the US. Then it goes onto say that in athe US - the gov't is encouraging the use of solar power.

A can not be correct since it is out of scope and the prompt mentions nothing of efficiency. C gives a viable answer in that manufactures in the US enjoy similar home court advantages similar to their European brethren. This completes the argument as it it provides a reason why demand will remain significant for US producers.

Just stick yourself to conclusion.

Quote:
If these initiatives succeed in increasing the demand for solar-power generators in the United States, United States manufacturers will probably maintain significant production level

Choice A is really out of scope.

why not E? if US market is limited, and US is funding initiatives to increase the demand, then US will maintain significant production level

Can anyone provide a better answer to this... Somehow my doubt remains

If the current market for solar-power generators in the United States is very limited, that gives more chance for success if these initiatives succeed in increasing the demand for solar-power generators in the United States.

If current market is already saturated , then there is little chance that there will be more increase in demand as the demand is already high...

please correct me where I am going wrong
why (c) is a better answer than (e)
Thanks
