(2) r = 1

Statement 1: $$p=1$$. $$1$$ raised to any power will yield $$1$$. hence $$p^r=1$$. Sufficient

Statement 2: nothing mentioned about $$p$$. Insufficient

Straight A
anything to the power of 1 is 1 ( even 0)
so statement 1 is sufficient
statement 2 is insufficient because p can be anything . p can be 0,1,2,5,-1 ... etc the entire number line hence insufficient.

Straight A.
1 when raised to the power of anything, which includes positive, negative, fractions and zero, results to a value of 1.
