The UC Berkeley Haas Full-Time MBA

The Haas School of Business, housed at the University of California, Berkeley, is situated in the heart of downtown Berkeley, a stone’s throw away from the diverse and bustling city of San Francisco and another leap away from the hub of technology at Silicon Valley. The location, in addition to being one of the world’s most prestigious public schools, draws many students to the unique culture of Haas.

The Haas curriculum is embedded in the belief that its students should be constantly challenging the status quo, continually learning, and continually innovating. Hence, the school follows the belief that success is earned by leading through innovation. Innovative leadership is learned and practiced through the core courses, electives, and required experiential learning course, which teaches students to find, analyze, and solve problems through various solution paths. There are more than a dozen experiential learning courses for Haas students to choose from based on their interests and career paths, from Social Sector Solutions and Clean Tech to Market, to The Haas Socially Responsible Investment Fund and Lean Launchpad.

Similarly, the Haas core curriculum is anchored in a general management education, then allows students to focus on any of seven areas to customize their curriculum to match their unique career needs: Accounting, Business & Public Policy, Economic Analysis & Public Policy, Finance, Management of Organizations, Marketing, or Operations & Information Technology Management.

One of the things that makes Haas unique from other business schools is its global reach. While most business schools today offer a global perspective in its courses, Haas hosts International Business Development (IBD), a global consulting program that places students in countries around the world for three-week projects. This unique program allows students to gain hands-on experience in the industry of their choice while simultaneously gaining insight into international cultures and business conduct.

Finally, Haas is known for placing more of its graduates in the tech sector than any other business school. In fact, they place nearly double the amount of recent graduates in the tech sector than its two closest tech competitor programs – Ross and MIT Sloan. This is due not only because of Haas’ experiential learning segment and its focus on clean technology, energy, and resource allocation, but also because of Haas’ nearness to the capitol of the American high-tech sector, Silicon Valley.
