Hi everyone!
I would need advice from admissions experts
Profile:- French 24 year old woman
- 2.5 years experience (luxury retail), all abroad (Asia: Hong Kong & Tokyo)
- Reputable undergraduate degree
- Trilingual (English, French, Chinese)
- Planning to start MBA in September 2022 or 2023 (INSEAD/LBS/Wharton)
I obtained 700 on the Online GMAT recently (Q46 V40 IR4).
I know INSEAD requires IR6 --> Is this a break and should I retake?
Unfortunately test centres are closed in my region of the world indefinitely.
Further, all top MBA averages are higher than 700. Although I'm happy with my score, I'm afraid it is not enough. Any advice would be really helpful!
Thank you,
Vic
Hello, Vic. First of all, congratulations on achieving a fine GMAT™ score. Hitting the 700 threshold is a major achievement. With that said, there are concerns related to each of the programs you listed. For instance, if INSEAD
requires a 6 in IR, then you have not met a requirement. You could contact an admissions officer at the school to inquire about the matter further, but my understanding is that a requirement is to be taken at face value. Then, Wharton standards are among the hardest to meet in the world. The median GMAT™ score, as I am sure you are aware, hovers around 730. On paper, the European programs seem like less of a reach.
I usually tell my students that a 6 or above in IR is good enough for just about any program. Until IR may be integrated with the total score, it will likely be treated as another AWA, nothing the school can brag about, so nothing the school cares about to the same extent.
You may also wish to speak with admissions consultants through this site,
here. They can help you better assess whether you may be getting in over your head or whether you may make a viable candidate for any of the programs you are targeting.
Bonne chance !
