Hi
Do not be disheartened, with the right guidance and approach you can get a good Quant score. Remember Quant is based on right approach and is very learnable. in fact, the Quant section is very scorable if one prepares well.
We are having GMATBusters' Quant Quiz tomorrow morning at 7:30 IST, see the link for the same in my signature. We recommend participating in the quiz.
You can tag me or pm me for any doubt or guidance.

Thanks

I'm still a bit confused on which quant course to pick. I scored a Q46 and i'm targeting Q50 in my retake that i plan to take in May. I've taken EGMAT for verbal and I'm a bit hesitant in taking them for Quant since I feel their Quant pace may be similar to that of verbal (which at times is really really slow).

Would prefer a course high on quality and content, preferably not too long i.e. it assumes basic knowledge of concepts and gives you GMAT hacks and tips to crack those 700+ questions in particular. I sucked at DS in my last and first attempt.

If you are looking outside of egmat, there are 2 main choices - TTP and Math Revolution. TTP is pretty extensive and detailed - Perhaps ScottTargetTestPrep has a suggestion about a study plan specifically for someone wanting to move from Q45 to Q50 or so without covering the entire course (it is extensive)

Math Revolution has a completely different approach to quant that is not traditional. It works well if you can't stand math.

I would check their free trials and see if either style fits better

Thanks bb. I can stand Math, its just that I suck at certain concepts - Inequalities, Modulus, P&C, Probability, Geometry for eg and DS can be a bit tricky sometimes. I'm just worried about spending too much time on basics that may not be helpful so looking for something very focussed. I'll see if any of those have free trial.

Thanks BB! Do I you have suggestions for verbal apart from EGMAT? I’m done with them and I’m looking to increase my verbal score from V32.

Empowergmat is a pretty solid and inexpensive course you can try free for 3 days and then get for $99/month. Worth a shot...

Do you think it is better than the Manhattan Interact? I was in fact confused between the two. I’ve not used interact before.

I have used most of the on-demand course of this planet! The best materials i have ever seen is "interact by manhattanprep"! It is very expensive ($999 for both quant and verbal). You can try if it is affordable to u.
Hope it helps!
Thanks__

I'm currently trying to find the best possible course for my GMAT preparation. Therefore, I'm wondering about the importance of the "Average Score Improvement" as an indicator. Should I just take the course with the highest score?
How accurate is the rating if you take into consideration that many people start with a course from the beginning, stick to it and the possibility to assess an score improvement does not exist?

Hi Jeli131,

You bring up a number of important questions. Right now, there's no way to know for sure what combination of study materials would be best for YOU - and you might find that once you've studied for some time and better-defined your particular 'needs', you'll end up adjusting your study plan (and including some new resources).

The logical next step would be for you to start your own post-thread (instead of piggy-backing on this one), so that we can define how you've been studying along with your timeframe and goals. If you can answer a few questions, I'll be happy to offer you the personal advice that you're looking for (and I'm sure that others will too). If you'd rather not publicly post that information, then you can feel free to PM me directly.

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates did you take EACH of your practice CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Not very familiar with that one... Is that the one that is only available on the app? Does it have any reviews? What specifically got your attention in that course?

I just found it on the Internet; it's Prepscholar. com

But I guess that if there haven't been any references about this resource here on gmatclub then it might not be a good resource.

Would it be recommended to mix different books or should I stick to a one-company books + OG ? I want to avoid over-saturating myself with many different books.

Also, say I take Manhattan course, would it be wise to stick to their books? Or is it common to take a course with one company and use books of another company?

It's just that I see many people use MGMAT and OG and other books ALL together while taking a course too. So how does it work?

My guess is you probably don’t go to eat main course in one restaurant and the appetizers in another? Not sure this metaphor applies anymore but no point in riding two bicycles or wear two sets of pants. Sticking with one set of prep materials should work best unless you realize the material you picked does not connect with your learning style. But most people don’t know what that is and usually are quick to dismiss books and courses and move on and on and on like kids opening dozens of presents for Christmas.

Thank you! Sounds, indeed, right.

An On-Demand course differs from an on-line course by that the former is basically offline and that you do you kind of thing, whereas the latter is more personal with online tutoring (or f2f tutoring) that guide you through the materials, right?
