I've read all of the "Calling All ____ Consortium MBA Applicants" threads and I've never seen a report of a CGSM fellowship + stipend for top schools like Haas, Tuck, Yale, Ross etc. As mentioned, I've seen it for Kenan-Flagler but definitely not for a ~T10. So, I think the phrase "not at all uncommon" is a bit misleading. If that happens, I'd say it's more of an exception than the rule. I don't think your family situation has any bearing on this since many (if not all) of these programs don't offer need based aid.

I would have changed my rankings after interviewing at all the schools to NYU 1 or 2 for sure... too bad. Has anyone heard of an instance where you can negotiate the fellowship offer?
