Same. All the best for other apps! I think they have raised the bar for Indian male candidates to be 760 instead of a 750. They must have received alot of 750s from India. But indeed disappointed.

And that’s it for round 2! Good luck to everyone who got an interview invite.

This year, for round 2 invites started on Wednesday January 29 and the last batch of invites and all dings went out the next day Thursday January 30. Only a 2 day period, where as in round 1 it was a 4 day period. Some great data for next year.

I’ll throw in the first question.

Who in the right mind would retake the GMAT after a 750?

Kidding aside, I’d love to know how you approached recruiting and now that you have hindsight, what advice do you have for the recently admitted Boothies?

We’ve discussed this 750 story threadbare!

As far as advice goes - I think it’s very important for incoming students to talk to people already at Booth and come in with a clear understanding of what they want to recruit for - What is Plan A, what is Plan B etc.
I got super lazy after the admit and did no research, went into Booth thinking I would recruit for some kind of strategy role in a CPG co. And only found out once I got in that a lot of the Corp Strat roles I thought of recruiting for so not sponsor internationals.
I pivoted to consulting last minute and was running blind for the first couple of weeks. The Booth year starts later than other schools and recruiting will hit you very hard very fast. You’re only compounding your problems by not having a plan! So yes research research research and come prepared with a recruiting Plan A and Plan B; the school has enough resources to get you the job you want provided you have a clear idea of what you want.

How did you approach/prepare for the interview process? How long did you prepare for?

I don’t like to over prepare for interviews so I didn’t go very hard with the prep. I worked on making my “Why Booth” answer relatable, personal and structured. A lot of it had to do with the Chicago Approach which I found uniquely resonant. Also had a why MBA answer that was sort of prepared. The rest of it honestly I was confident that I would be able to talk about stuff on my resume without sounding disingenuous, same with my motivations etc.
Yes I also worked on my strength and weakness answers just to make sure I didn’t ramble.
The interview was nothing I could have prepared for. The interviewer had done his research and it ended up being more of a freewheeling chat. I did have one chink in my armour, having quit a job in ten months to join another - he told me up front that “that’s the only thing that concerns me a little - why did you do it?” I shared my reasons and he seemed convinced and yeah that was that! So I guess if there are any obvious gaps or such like on your resume you have to be prepared to talk about those.
