For those who have already interviewed, I have a question. I am scheduled to do an on-campus interview at Durham NC at the end of November. The email instructions says business casual is appropriate. I was wondering if this is really the case? What was your guys' experience like with the dress code?

A great question. I do also have upcoming interviews with Duke and Darden and am not sure about the dress code. Is suit a must? Or a formal shirt will be enough?

Could anyone from admitted students shed some light on this issue?

I interviewed during the open interview period and many of the students were truly "business casual." At Fuqua, at least, I don't think not wearing a suit will be an issue for males and it definitely would not be an issue for females, many of whom did not even wear blazers. (Admittedly, I noticed the females more as I am female.)

Definitely more casual than other schools, where anything short of suit + tie is a no-no. I wore a blue suit with a conservative patterned shirt, no tie. Other people interviewed in a full suit and tie and others had just slacks and a shirt.

I'd guesstimate 50% wore suit no tie. 35% wore suit and tie. 15% wore slacks and a shirt

When I interviewed at Fuqua, it had a more casual feeling. I wore a dress shirt and dress pants which seemed pretty inline with most people there. Obviously a suit wouldn't hurt either.

At Darden however, every single male was wearing a full suit and tie. The female applicants were dressed formally as well.

Basically I'd say Fuqua = Business casual
Darden = Business

For guys, I'd recommend at least a jacket with your business casual.
For my interview, I wore a suit without the tie.
Make sure you're comfortable in what you choose to wear. Best of luck!

I agree. I interviewed during the open period and wore a suit without a tie. I felt comfortable and while I haven't been accepted yet (R1 applicant), I don't think my attire will have anything to do with the decision.

Your attire will not make or break you interview. To be safe just wear a suit and tie. You can always take them off. The most important thing is to be comfortable with yourself, so that you can do well with the actual interview.

I wore a suit and tie, and took the jacket off at the start of the interview (I "asked" my interviewer if it was okay), because the heat was on full blast.

Does anyone know if all R1 applicants receive their decision December 15th? Or is it rolling?
