I just cancelled my interview with Fuqua after being admitted at one of my top choice schools. Do you think they will invite someone else now like Souvik or will they just now choose to admit from the same applicant pool minus one?

Also, was what I did unconventional?

Posted from my mobile device

You are so kind .. wish the world worked that way. Though I am not SOuvik.

We’ve all been in each other’s shoes so.. Souvik was just an example anyway because I know he applied. Hope someone magically gets an invite today.

I just had an interview with ad-com yesterday. The questions are quite standard:

- Walk me through resume
- A typical day at work
- Why MBA now
- Why Fuqua
- A teamwork example in which you had difficulty and what did you learn from it
- 5 characteristics of a good team
- Strengths and weaknesses
- How did my exchange to another country as a student affect my cultural view
- How have I grown as a leader and leadership style

Hi,

No, I was invited on the invitation date. It's just that I was able to interview only yesterday. No alumni in my area so needed to Skype with ad-com.

I just interviewed with a second year student at Duke Fuqua and here is my review:

- It was very relaxed and conversational, without surprising or tricky questions. It lasted about 45 mins (35 minutes for me answering and last 10 minutes for me to ask anything about the school, program). Some of my questions were:
1. Tell me about yourself
2. Why an MBA right now?
3. Why Fuqua?
4. Tell me about a time when you got out of your comfort zone.
5. How do you seek feedback and how have you worked on it so far?
6. Tell me about one of your leadership experience
7. Under the consideration of team Fuqua, what do you think what makes a team work efficiently?

So, all in all a good experience and the interviewer was super nice and supportive. The best part was my interviewer. He tried to keep me talking most of the time and listened while I answered. And he did listen very carefully since some questions were based on my response of the previous ones - I really appreciated him for that.

Now I'm waiting for the result - so nervous because I really want to join Fuqua this fall

Hi, I wanted to apply to Fuqua for a really long time. I planned to do the EA round but I got laid off right before the application season. I'm now planning to apply for R2 and just realized that we can't schedule interviews after the open season ends. Is an interview kind of a must to show interest in Fuqua?

Open interviews definitely helps if you're a borderline candidate. It shows initiative and real interest in Fuqua. If you are a competitive candidate, then you can probably afford to wait to be invited for interview.

Did anyone from India get invited for interview apart from 1 person on the tracker? I got a not invited as well..

I think most Indians seats were filled in the Early Action round itself. Haven't heard of a single invite in Round 1.

It maybe possible that gmatclub has a very small sample size.

Gmatclub has a very small sample size 100%. There is no uncertainty there. Gmatclub applicants are about 10% of the overall applicant pool. You can check this info easily. I checked for several scools and it is more or less precise.

Also, most of them don't update their status until they get accepted.

Hello All,

I am planning to apply in Fuqua either in R2 this year or in R1 next year. There are few doubts which I have regarding my candidature and overall job prospects for international candidates in US.

Kindly review my profile and share your valuable inputs.

Profile: I completed my graduation in Fashion designing from one of the top 3 colleges in Asia in 2014 with a CGPA of 7.43. I have been working with the biggest apparel organization in India for past 4 years. Have a healthy work experience acFuqua 2 different roles.

Extra-curricular: I am a national level athlete and I am regularly involved in different sports.
Have also won national level quiz competitions. Have been involved with couple of NGOs during my college days.

GMAT (Oct’2017) : 700 (Q-50, V-34, IR-8, AWA-5).

Areas of interest : 1) General Management, 2) Marketing

I need your help in deciding whether I should apply in Fuqua with my current profile?

Also, should I target US B schools? Employment after completing MBA is an important criterion to decide which schools to apply. From few current students in US I have heard really negative reviews regarding job scenario for international MBA students in US. The situation is not bright in even top 15 colleges. Under the current geo-political situation, will it be a viable option to try for any US school?

Also, I will be looking for a scholarship. Earlier I was targeting top 15 US B schools. Though my profile is extremely unique, my GMAT score is on a lower side. Being from India would go against me. Are there any colleges in top 15 where I can expect admission with scholarship?

I am okay to give GMAT again and if required then wait for one year before applying.

Will be obliged if someone can take out time and suggest the future course of action.
