Hi All.

I have a question about the Employment section of the application. It says to "provide some additional details about the most recent three jobs you've had." I've only worked in one company after undergrad (multiple locations/positions) but it is pretty clear that all these positions should be under a single entry. Should I add internship/part-time jobs I had during undergrad, or should I leave it with just the single entry?

How did you include three positions at a singe employer into one entry?

I Just listed different starting and ending position.

Their instructions also says "If you've had more than one position at the same employer, just list the employer once but with different starting and ending positions. We'll know that you've changed titles and/or been promoted. You can include more details on your resume."

I would. Definitely be clear that this was part-time/internship work, but considering how streamlined the HBS application is I would take advantage of the opportunity to tell a little more about myself.

I'm not sure if I would put all of my employment into 1 entry. I know that it states that, but I can't imagine someone having multiple positions, etc. having to condense to 1 entry.

Also, a friend, who was admitted, shared their application and they submitted 3 entries of the same company. All of their positions were drastically different as the company was enormous.

Is your question more of you wanting to condense so that you can show you have more experience or you are trying to follow the prompt? I don't see Harvard penalizing you for clarifying and elaborating on your work experience, which is still limited to 3 entries.

You could always ask the admissions office and report back as well! :-D

Quote:
Every year, a handful of RC students elect not to return for their EC year. Most of those who defer have spend their summer getting deep on an opportunity they feel they just can’t leave while they finish. They choose to see where the opportunity takes them over graduating with their section mates. It’s not necessarily the end of their HBS experience – the school allows them to return any time in the next five years.

As you can imagine, the kinds of opportunities that lead people to defer their MBA tend to be pretty cool. So this year the Harbus got in touch with a few of the (now former) members of the Class of 2016 to see what they’re doing instead of EC year, why, and how the made the decision.

If nothing else, their stories tell us two things: Just one year at HBS opens up some incredible opportunities, and, for RCs, no matter how clear your plans now, you never know where you’ll be next fall.

Insight from the Harbus on a few students who chose to chase entrepreneurial opportunities.

It should just be readable and in a common font such as arial or times new roman. Dont remember the exact language in the instructions, but that's the gist.

Question on transcripts - I transferred during undergrad so have 2 transcripts that definitely need to be included. I also took two summer math courses at two different colleges over the summers. However, the application only allows for three transcripts, and I have four. I was going to just include the higher level math course of those two summer courses but is it ok to leave out the other?

No specific requirement. Use your judgement and make it easy to read so don't use text that is too small and spacing slightly more than single spacing is usually helpful.

Good luck!

Yes, that is ok. You don't have to include transcripts for all courses taken if they weren't degree granting. That is one reason HBS doesn't allow for an endless number of transcripts.

Quick question (I am submitting tomorrow): I obtained a financial analysis specialist degree from a university in Europe one summer. I do not have a transcript, where do I mention it? Its not on my resume.

Another last minute question,
Should I report sign-on bonus, stock awards in the employment section? If yes, should I report the vested stock amount or the awarded amount?
