shah8 not sure about purely informational chat but as a reminder/FYI on campus interviews are open however international Skype interviews are by invitation only.

I requested an off campus interview (in Vietnam btw), got an interview invitation email on Tuesday. I also got the informational chat email yesterday. Didn't put too much thought into it as I assumed everyone would receive a similar email. Oh well...

Round 1 admit here, so I hope I can shed some light on this:
- The informational chat is independent from the interview. I had signed up for this and the first thing the adcom said was: "I just want to make sure you are aware that this isn't part of the application process and will not influence our decision." I think they are also pretty clear about that in the invitation.
- What is the purpose then? It your chance to ask questions one-on-one about the program. There is no agenda other than your questions.
- How does it work? Here's what happened in my case: I got a phone call by the adcom; she asked me to introduce myself; then asked if I had any questions and discussed those with me. The time slot is 20 minutes; we went a little over that and it seemed fine.
Obviously I took the opportunity. I thought it was a great way of getting to know the school better and also expressing desire to go there. If you decide to sign up, I'd strongly recommend you got your 30-second pitch and some good questions ready. If you don't have any, don't sign up. Simple as that. Even though the chat is not part of the application process, keep in mind that you're always on the record when speaking to adcoms.
One more thing. If you scroll up this thread, you'll notice quite a few folks freaking out about someone getting random emails from Kellogg. If there's a takeaway for round 2 applicants, it is to relax. It doesn't mean anything.

I didn't send my official scores. I had shot them a mail asking if it is necessary and the adcom team had replied saying that they will need it in case of admission and they can start their review without it.
