Hmm, maybe because mine was voicemail they didn't feel comfortable mentioning the hundreds of thousands of dollars they were going to offer over the phone?

Must be it.

Yeah I got a voicemail with a message to “call them back”. I called back and they told me my acceptance + scholarship package. They’re not gonna say that in a voicemail, especially not if it’s substantial.

I didn't get a voicemail at all when they called haha. I wasn't sure what to do but called back they told me I got in. It seems that it's not a 100% consistent process.
