Any WhatsApp group for the admitted candidates? And specifically, Indians? Would like to tie up and plan post admit offer receipt.

Thanks

Hey guys. I need some help.

I am admitted to other similar school - rankings, costs and industry presence - similar.
I am wondering which one to choose.

So, can you please tell me, in your opinion, why KFBS is a good choice or not? That is, what are it's strengths and weaknesses?

Did you get any scholarships from either school that’ll tip the decision one way or another?

All else being equal, here’s my take on why I’d chose KFBS over equal school:

-UNC alumni base is massive. Access to both b school and undergrad alums. Everyone is always happy to connect to a fellow Tar Heel.
-Location. Can’t really beat being in the South for a couple years while getting a top notch degree. Weather is awesome and people are friendly. Sometimes in the chillier areas people can be miserable.
-Cost of living in a college town vs a city. Chapel Hill is very reasonable.
-Very close knit community at KFBS. Everyone willing to help each other and get to know one another. I’m sure other schools would say that but I can tell you this is the case.
-You’re going to freaking UNC. If college sports is your thing it’s a no brainer. If it’s not, it’s still fun to casually cheer on and see all the hype that goes on during game days (esp football Saturdays and basketball season).
-Pantana Bob’s, that is if you’re into the bar scene.

- For me I wanted a change for a couple years from NYC. It’s been everything I wanted and more. Have my internship this summer back up North and it’s still probably where I will head when I graduate. But it’s been a helluva first year - goes by way too fast!

I purposefully didn’t get into all the fluff that you’d probably hear in a pamphlet about academics etc, just giving you a real answer after my experience, mostly outside the classroom.

No I didn't.
And that makes them both even more difficult / equally strong contender.

Goals are consulting - in energy sector specifically.
I have broad industry experience in upstream area (crude extraction).
Trying to learn more about the industry at large and figured if I can break into consulting - focused in Energy Sector, I can grow more and fast.
Employers: think of Schlumberger, Mott MacDonald, other consulting firms.

Hi nyrnyg9412
That is a great answer. That exactly is what I am trying to learn.
I didn't put school or goal so that I can get idea about the school objectively.

My goal is to go for consulting - focused on the energy sector. Schlumberger, Mott MacDonald, etc. are the names that would come to my mind when I think of employers.
The other school is Tepper.

You are right about weather - and coming from Canada, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a break from it. Though, I wouldn't be miserable either.. hahhaa.
Neither am I a big fan of sports, but I certainly like to hang out and have fun on that part.

The biggest concern I have is my career goal - breaking into consulting after almost 9 years in the industry. Even though, I plan go in as an Industry Specialist, that is a niche area, and wondering which school can help me better achieve that.

But, I really appreciate your reply and candid reply.
