AGREED. I just began the essay-writing-process today. This is going to be a long road.

Aside from the Global Practicum, does Wharton have any other experiential learning/hands-on classes?
Thanks

I think so, though you may have to look at the curriculum, quite a number of classes are hands-on. Also there's the leadership venture which I think is also part of it. This: http://wlp.wharton.upenn.edu/experiential-learning.cfm is a good place to start your research.

The essay is tougher than I'd imagined it would be. Hang in there.

Thanks. I forgot about that one...

Associate Director of MBA Admissions, Anthony Penna, stops for a quick photo in front of St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow.

Planning is well underway and excitement is building as we prepare for the Class of 2016’s arrival for Pre-Term in August! Thought I'd share the key takeaways from my Wharton research.

- Academic strong points: finance faculty is world class, also strong in marketing; recently more focus on social impact
- Much more technically oriented than its peers: technical expertise and analytical rigour; offers deep vertical learnings, e.g. could become a valuation expert in emerging markets [I mentioned emerging markets as an area of interest]
- Work in groups “like there is no tomorrow”: fares high with employers who value teamwork; need to work well and thrive in this environment
- Typical student is collaborative, curious and engaged
- Catalyse → Create → Connect
- More commercial with its admissions criteria – want to look at professional history/growth
- Want students able to bring unique personal qualities and past successes to the programme
- Potential for growth an important factor
- Student run school – everyone is asked to contribute

This is from discussions with adcoms, professors, support staff, current students, alums and admission consultants. It is not complete, I may have put my own spin on things (linked to my specific interests) and some stuff may well have changed, but I'm hoping to spark a bit of debate and hopefully help your applications too.

Any thoughts?

Hey Everyone!

Hope everyone's essays are coming along nicely (you should at least start if you haven't already!!!).

I compiled all the essay analyses (from experts/consultants). A LOT OF good information is out there on how you should approach the essay questions.

Check it out at: http://grantmeadmission.com/2014/07/15/ ... s-updated/

FROM Wharton Admissions Blog: A New Cycle, A New Academic Year
Image
And so it begins! The 2014-15 application is now live!

As mentioned in previous posts, we have streamlined the application processand made some key changes to the application itself. If you are a first time applicant or reapplicant, know that the Admissions team is here to assist you if you have any questions throughout the process. There are many ways you can connect with us including in-person events, webinars, campus visits, and via e-mail at mba-admiss@wharton.upenn.edu or by phone at 215-898-6183.

This time of year is always exciting at Wharton with the new application cycle beginning and the Class of 2016 arriving on campus in just a few days. While everyone in academia enjoys the quiet summer months, I cannot wait for campus to be buzzing with student activity again. As the Admissions team continues to travel the globe, we look forward to meeting many more of you at our upcoming events in Latin America, the Middle East, Canada, India, and across the United States.

Regards,

Maryellen Reilly Lamb

Deputy Vice Dean, Admissions, Financial Aid and Career Management

Hi everyone. It's been deadly quiet in here so far - maybe it's a Round 1 thing!?

Anyway, I'd just like to wish everyone good luck and invite you to my place (topdogmba.com) in case you fancy some company - there's a lot of good links to other bloggers too, as well as (arguably) the best dog on the planet!

I'm a regular guy applying to (at least) three b schools in Round 1 and, having done a ton of research, I'm just getting to the essays now. You're not alone in your quest, so let's try to liven things up a bit on gmatclub!

Yep, very quiet.

Does anyone get prompted that the form has changed since their last visit when they log on to the application portal?
