Just finished the video essay...
It was soooo much harder than I though :(

I work in the front office of a bank so talking is basically my job. I thought it would be a piece of a cake so didn't practice much. BIG MISTAKE!
I have never had that much trouble articulating my thoughts...

Please don't make the mistake I did... Practice practice practice and practice before you press that button!!

You are scaring me buddy...I am sure it was not as bad as you think. I wish you all the best. Would you mind sharing the questions by the way? I just submitted my app an hour shy of the deadline.....a bit nervous for the video questions now.

The deadline was 2 days ago... Are you submitting for R2?

I am sorry for not being clear - I submitted an hour before the deadline on 14 September (though feels like I did so just now!).

The first wave of responses came about a week or so after the deadline.

The second/third wave comes later.

Don't fret if you didn't get in on the first wave - mine came pretty late.

Hi Tazz,
I am not sure if I can share live questions...
But the earlier post with the link to practice questions contains the exact kind of questions asked.

Practice with that and you should be fine...

So the earliest interview offer can come as early as September 21?

That's fast :)

I wouldn't put an exact date on it as none of us here actually know, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if invites started rolling out towards the end of September.

Like @Wilch mentioned though, please don't spend too much time thinking about which round of invites you end up in. I was also invited later and things turned out fine. If they think you'll be a good fit, you'll get your invite in due time.

Fingers crossed for all of you! Congrats on getting the apps in on time.

I just took my video interview. Questions were similar to JLAW's earlier in the thread.
It was tough - combination of using the technology and not having done an interview in a while lead to some less-than-ideal responses.
I ran out of time for Q3, and I rambled a bit in Q2 (and gave a fairly lousy response).

Hope everyone else does/did better!

I agree with @aerien. Too many variables to guess interview waves. I wouldn't bet on anything earlier than the last week as the video essays are due on 21st.

For those who have tackled the video questions, Guys, does it allow the practice question to be done multiple times in different sessions (at varying times)? Or is it that once you enter the practice mode you can ONLY exit once you are through the REAL game (the actual 3 questions)? If you can indeed practice multiple times, does the question reset, or its the same question every time?

Also, does it have a BIG digital timer on the screen to help you?

Thanks! Aiming to tackle this beast in the next couple of days.

You can come back and practice as many times as you'd like. I think there were maybe 4 different practice questions? The timer is a bar that moves across part of the screen. No issues knowing how much time I had left.

I just submitted mine this afternoon. It might help you to make a list of common interview questions (and the sample Yale ones posted previously) and jot down some notes for each. At a minimum it gets you in the right mindset, even if you're not asked about any of those things in particular. They really weren't that hard.

Did my video questions today. Was quite scared, but if you spend 2-3 hours practicing to get comfortable with the format, you will be alright :)

1) General question about MBA (Why MBA, why now...)
2) Behavioral question - how you handled a professional situation
3) Agree/disagree with a statement

Good luck everyone!

Some people on this thread are saying that we can expect the first wave of interview invites in the week of September 19th, but that doesn't make much sense considering the fact that the video essay submission deadline is September 21st. I think they would want to review all components of the application (including video essays) before taking a call on interview invites.

I think that interview invites will not be sent out until last week of Sept / first week Oct.

Souvik, are you playing with the portal to see how the experience is? Does it allow for you to test it and come out without submitting?

Yeah you can play with it as much as you want. I have not practiced anything yet though. But you should practice from there.

Check last year's thread. Someone reported submitting the video questions the morning of the deadline and receiving an invitation later that afternoon. First round of invites went out the day of the deadline.
