Wanted some advice on my profile and if the schools I am considering are realistic or not:

27 year old (while matriculating) Indian Male (NON-ENGINEER).

GMAT: 710 (Q47, V41)

Education:
10th: 90%
12th: 86.5% (Humanities)

Undergrad GPA: 3.3
Bachelor's in Media & Communication from Symbiosis Intl. University (#1 Ranked program in the country)
Specialization: Advertising.

Work Ex: 4 years, 8 months at the time of joining.
Year 0-2: Worked as acopywriter & creative strategist at a digital advertising firm in Mumbai
Highlights -
- Successfully launched the first advertising campaign for the official Swedish Tourism board in India.
- Successfully set up and launched a leading health insurance brand in India online.
- Won the coveted Abby Awards for Creativity & Innovation (Indian equivalent of Cannes) twice.
- Won multiple clients through pitches, contributing significantly to company revenue.

Year 2-3
- Pivoted from a creative to an analytical role, starting as a Business Analyst at a leading ad-tech & performance marketing firm in India (Merkle Sokrati)
- Heavy focus on data analytics, projectioning, and budget planning & allocation.

I have 12 months before submitting my application. Would love to hear about my chances of getting an admit at Fuqua (I am open to applying in Early action), or how I could bolster my application (particularly the quant aspect) in this period.

Would an HBS CORe course help here?

Your profile looks good. Your stats are pretty much sorted. Your work-ex is quite great. I can see good examples of leadership and your impact. I think in all the roles and organizations, you truly have pulled off all your roles and that is evident from your career achievements. Your post-MBA goals do make sense but try to make it well defined specifying industry (Your role in analytics and creative strategist are not enough reasons to pursue consulting) and connecting to long term goals. If you want to do something in these 12 months, I say, bring more community experiences (you can do in a field which helps your long term goals or something that you just like to do). I think your profile is balanced and so do not need more quant experience but if you do feel this gap, then HBS Core course should help you. You seem to have an interesting profile! Your work experience in Ireland would be definitely unique and can be a good fodder for many interesting essays/ stories :)

It's good to see that you are planning to go for a 2nd MBA but some US b-schools are not very open to candidates who have already pursued an MBA degree. Duke Fuqua also seemed to have such policies in the past. So, I suggest you speak to them directly and understand their perspective on your profile.

I have helped many Indian students who've gone to top US schools after completing PGDM from India. There are various programs that will value your previous masters degree. :)

Graduation- B. Com (Honors) from Hansraj College (Ranked no. 3 in the India for Commerce) – 78.4%
Professional Qualification- Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India)
Other certifications- Investment analysis and portfolio management - (NSE, India)
GMAT Score- Yet to give. In coming 2 weeks. Aiming for 730-740
Work Experience:
3 years of post- qualification work experience of working with Big 4 firms – EY and KPMG India with exposure to Assurance and M&A advisory.
Currently working with KPMG India (for past 30 months) assisting clients across multiple industries (primarily e commerce, technology and manufacturing) and geographies (US, UK, Japan) in their strategic merger and acquisitions. I was promoted to a senior consultant in the first 12 months of my tenure at KPMG. Also, have managed team of 2-3 consultant and analysts across engagements.
At EY, I worked as a consultant in Assurance for 3 months where I was involved in assisting EY US team in conducting statutory audit for SEC / Non-SEC clients.
Also, as a part of pursuing the professional qualification I worked as a full-time trainee in Tier 1 accounting firm for 2 years and a small accounting firm for 1 year. Primarily worked in Risk advisory – performing enterprise risk assessments and internal financial controls procedures providing solutions to corporate to minimize internal business risks.
International experience- Have experience of working with cross cultural teams across multiple engagements as a part of my work-ex. But that has been virtual over calls and video conferencing, and I have not travelled out of India for work. Travelled in personal capacity to Singapore for 2 weeks last year.
Extra-curriculars and volunteer experience: Cultural Captain in School; Executive Member of College Environmental Society and Volunteered for several CSR events organized by KPMG.

- Have you done any redtail projects? If not, this would seem like an odd choice, and “regular” strategy consulting makes more sense, unless I am missing a family business or a passion you didn’t share

All in all, sounds like you have a solid profile! So, a lot will be up to the GMAT and the apps…

Work Experience:
7.5 years in IT MNC. Worked as a software quality engineer/scrum master for US based telecom clients.
3 years experience working in US at client location with daily interaction and client handling role.
Experience with managing and leading teams for both offshore and onshore.
Received multiple recognitions during my career for showing good work ethics and leadership qualities from employer as well as clients.
Completed IT certifications provided by PMI for project management and scrum.

Extra- Curricular Activities:
Currently part of JOSH team at my employer which is responsible for organizing fun/social activities at org level.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
A total experience of 8 years and 9 months in the field of Shipping (Merchant navy) on foreign going ships.

Campbell Shipping Company Ltd., Bahamas Feb’15 –Till Date
Role – Second Navigating Officer (Foreign Going) Sep’16 –Till Date 
• Passage planning for the safe voyage of the vessel carrying cargo worth 500mn USD  
• Radio officer managing Global Maritime Distress Safety System equipment on-board the vessel  
• Medical Officer on-board managing medical inventory and upkeep of medical requirements of the ship
• Leading a team of 15 multinational cross functional team members for critical cargo operations 
• Procurement and budgeting of provisions, stationery and medical inventory 
Key Achievements
 Successfully managed the crew during a 6-month siege in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Recommended for promotion to Chief Officer.
 Prevented collision and environmental damages worth $12M by strict implementation of safety policy and emergency procedures against commercial challenges inside the Congo river, against master’s decision.

Your stats seem good with a great GMAT. Your work experience, on the surface, looks great as well with considerable international experience. Overall, your profile does tick all the boxes but it does not seem like a very unique profile and considering your background, you will have to put extra intelligent efforts in bringing a unique application. Similarly, your post-MBA goals do not look like you have put great thought in it (I can be absolutely wrong about it since I am missing many details and a big picture to assess your profile). So, according to my analysis here, I suggest you ponder, first, over questions like why do you want to do MBA, how it will help in making a leap in your career, what can be the options you should consider post-MBA to make that leap. Your stats and work-ex seem fine, based on the details you have provided. But being an Indian male engineer, you are going to face very tough competition and so you need extra efforts in making your apps stand out. Talking about ECs, they seem outdated but I liked your community involvement now. Let me tell you this, for Fuqua, you really need not move big huge mountains in your life (though you do need to exhibit your potential for the program) but you need to own your story and be clear-headed about why do you need an MBA, what are your long-term aspirations and how a school (here, Fuqua) can help you achieve it. And you need to answer these questions to yourself before anyone else to really make yourself believe that you are a good fit for your target schools. This will also help you know how your past experience is relevant in pursuing an MBA, your post-MBA goals and how Fuqua (or any other school) is a good fit for you.

So a few things:
1. You have a good and unique professional background and seems like your achievements are noteworthy. Your work with Fortune 500 clients is also impressive and would help connecting dots with your post-MBA goals. The CFA will get you added points which will be helpful considering your GMAT is slightly less than desirable for your target schools.

2. Your extracurricular seem nice, but for a school like Duke you really need to highlight your multi-dimensional personality and characteristics. Some of the other schools on your list - Kellogg, Ross and Cornell are also very high on cultural fit - so you need to highlight that through your essays and LORs.

3. You also need to demonstrate strong interest in the school. Duke, Kellogg, CBS, Cornell, Booth are very particular about how much you want to be part of their community. For this you will need to do extensive research about the program, connect with students/alums and present your passion for the school in your application essays and interview.

You do have a competitive profile. Your stats are great with many notable achievements.

Your work brings many good elements. In your training period, you got exposed to different industries, had some international exposure and included a stint as a leader too. Post-training, a great career trajectory and now you are holding a managerial position. Clearly, you have a good impact with huge responsibilities. But, for the resume, I suggest you be less technical and talk about the projects in a way that clearly demonstrates your leadership potential and your impact.

Your ECs look good as well. Do talk about the society you co-founded and your mentorship experience now and how many children it impacted. Fuqua is very considerate about having a positive and robust impact on the community. Also, Fuqua looks for a vibrating, interesting personality. So, make sure you bring out this in your apps.

Also, for your long-term goals, I do understand your motivation of pursuing a career in the sports industry but I want to know why you do not make this pivot right after MBA? Also, why TMT?
