Thank you.

PS. I tried registering for classic test center based GMAT and saw dates through Feb 28, 2024. Is that just because it is Aug 28 today or it is the last day for the classic GMAT?

Interesting: I can confirm that I've noticed the same. This obviously suggests that the classic GMAT will continue until the at least the end of February '24, which is exactly six months from today—and not the end of January '24.

Apparently Wharton was wrong about the GMAT Focus starting in late October (actual start date: 11/7/23), so maybe it was also wrong about the classic GMAT ending on January 31st. In other words, the GMAT Focus is apparently starting a few weeks later than GMAC had planned, so perhaps the classic GMAT will survive for a bit longer than anticipated, too.

Thank you for your question. I corrected my post to indicate that it was a reference to the classic, traditional test format.

Thank you so much for the clarification. Today, I just checked the dates for the classic Gmat test so that I can book the test at the center.
Thank you!

Or maybe—as you suggested—the dates will be updated tomorrow, when GMAT Focus registration officially opens.

Hi. No. I think we will continue to have reading comprehension passages with 3 to 4 questions each. However, usually passages with three questions are shorter. I can usually tell a three question passage from the four question passage, usually…

PS. You should expect for reading comprehension passages but there are some rare situations when you will see only three.

Which passage will have at least three questions and potentially up to four. You will not know how many questions a particular passage will have. However potentially you can use the feature that allows you to come back and change the answer… 3 times, after you submit the last question. But I’m still trying to figure out the best use of that feature… 🤔

Thanks bb! Yup exactly why I wanted to check.. in case I stumble across a tough one, probably skipping it and coming back.. outside this, I don't think I'd use the option to come back or would have the time to use.

Hi bb,

Any tentative dates when the GMAT club is looking to update the GMAT Club tests for focus edition.

I was looking to buy one of the packages from GMAT club tests to improve my test taking skills.

For the next 6 months or more, students will have 4 versions of the GMAT from which to choose: classic GMAT, GMAT online, GMAT Focus, and GMAT Focus online!

Of course, this also confirms that there will be a GMAT Focus online version.

Does this also mean that the online version of the GMAT Focus will provide the promised (and free, with the cost of the exam) "expanded score report"—unlike the current, "classic" GMAT online, which offers no ESR option? Time will tell; this appears to be the case, but GMAC has not yet confirmed it explicitly.

bb, like you, I tried to sign up for the classic GMAT, and the last available test date was still the end of February: February 29, 2024 to be exact. However, I'm not sure how much this means, because this is also the last date that I can sign up for the GMAT Focus...and it happens to be exactly 6 months from today.

Yesterday you wrote that your last available date to take the classic GMAT was 2/28. This could indicate that the Pearson Vue / Examity registration systems simply don't allow test-takers to sign up for tests further than 6 months in the future. Thus, although we now can confirm that the GMAT Focus officially starts on or around 11/8/23, we still cannot confirm exactly when the classic GMAT will end.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing - is that the system limitation allowing only registration for 6 months or is the test indeed available for 6 months only ... I think at this point it is going to be a bit too early to say until we can hear the official feedback but I can see how GMAC may not want to put a date out there until the Focus is up and running without bugs... let's see. Hopefully the 6 months is valid and will continue for a while longer (more options is always better)

Agreed that more time for current students to take the classic GMAT is always better. However, given what the top business schools have said about the transition to the Focus so far, I wonder whether they would accept any classic GMAT scores from exams taken on/after March '24—even if that were to become a possibility.

For now, it's safe to assume that there are at least 6 more months remaining of the classic GMAT, possibly more. (I'll check periodically to be sure.)

Quick update: I tried to register again this morning for the classic GMAT—and the last available date was still 2/29/24.

Could this be happening simply because there is no February 30th or 31st? We will find out in a couple of days: on Friday, September 1st.
