Hi
Please provide official explanation.

The answer is (A).
Choice (A) is correct. Principal is used here in its common meaning as main or primary.
Choice (B) uses the incorrect word principle.
Choice (C) changes the word version to model, which does not correct the sentence.
Choice (D), though technically a correct statement, unnecessarily drops the participle being.
Choice (E) alters the word order for no reason.

Not sure if I understand why D is wrong. Is it only because of the possessive form? Is 'being' really necessary in option A?

Can an expert please explain why D is wrong? Thanks!

I can't find any reason why A is a better solution than D?

Both looks like technically correct, and option A has "being". Which should be enough for D right?

Please explain this one. Here is the usage of being correct. I find it unnecessary to use being and also out of the options i find D better than the rest.

Please explain this one. Here is the usage of being correct. I find it unnecessary to use being and also out of the options i find D better than the rest.

The question is flawed for multiple reasons.
1. Non-GMAT-like errors: The errors incorporated in the wrong options (spelling error, different word etc.) are not seen on the real test.
2. In my opinion the use of the phrase "describe as" is altogether wrong in this case. High speed itself is the principal feature, not how the principal feature is described.

Think this way:
How would you describe the principal feature?.. as high speed / being high speed: incorrect
What is the principal feature?.. high speed: correct

Thus the correct sentence could be:
He described that the principal feature of the new version is its high speed.

I find the sentence, including the OA A, to be grammatically incorrect.
Is this a GMAT type question?

Hi friends,
I have gone through one of the popular gmat courses where it defined the usage of "as" primarily in 4 different types.
As - Can be used for Comparisons.
As - Can be used for showing simultaneous actions.
As - Can be used for Reasoning.
As - Can be used for defining a role or function.

Can someone please let me know what is the function of "as" is playing here. ?
