Hello
Its May30.
I need to apply to schools that have application deadlines start of September.

So far, I have taken Manhattan Prep 9 week course from start of Feb to end of March.

And then I have slacked alot in my studies and made it May30.

I took diagnostic exam last 3 weeks ago and my scores were 540.

I am planning to enroll in Empower GMat tomorrow.
ANd planning to study for 2 months and write the exam.

Is it possible to actually raise my score to 740+ in 2 months?
and apply for the schools before the deadlines?

I am feeling alot of anxiety and stress. And I am wasting all the time I have on hands.
Please any comments and suggestions on what to do is all I need.

It's do-able but you'll need to give it a solid effort. I don't see what difference another course will make apart from leaving you slightly poorer.

740 is a score that requires a lot of practice, dedication and understanding of the topics. What are your weaknesses? Is quant worse or verbal? Focus on that first and take the easy points on offer. If you're aiming for a 740, min. effort should be 4 hours per day. Nothing else will do.

740 is unrealistic goal especially since you have 2 months to prepare. Most of those you actually plan to score greater than 700 set intermediate goals. First you must score 650 then 700. I'm sure you are aware that a 20 point increase beyond 700 is much more difficult than a 20 point increase in the 600s. Any incremental increase requires a different strategy when you are actually hitting 700 consistently.

Well let's put it this way. It is most definitely possible to improve your score to 740+. So the answer to your question is yes.
However, there is a lot of fine print.

It can be done but there a lot of terms and conditions. Many factors are involved and how you address each will determine whether you can achieve the goal.
1. Time - how much time can you put in on a regular basis? I would say you will need at least 20 hrs a week. After 2 weeks evaluate yourself and if needed increase time.
2. Self realization - how well do you know what your strengths and weaknesses are? Since you have 2 months, you cannot cover every single thing under the sun. So you need to understand what your shortcomings are within each section and then work on them. At the same time u need to ensure you make the most of your strengths.
3. Study material - this is not as big a factor as the first two but it is important nevertheless. You can go through the various reviews and choose whats suits the best for you.

But all that aside, another important question is why do you need 740+? No school I know of will put 740 as a cutoff. So do you really need 740 or a 710-720 will also be enough? Give it a thought. Good luck.

Hi bringachange,

It looks like you created two separate threads covering this discussion - and since it's not clear whether you're checking both threads for responses or not, I've copied over my response from the other thread:

Raising a 560 to a 740 will require some serious work - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Learning, practicing and mastering all of the necessary content and Tactics will take time though - and 2 months will probably not be enough time. In all likelihood, you would need at least 3 months of consistent, guided study to get to that level. That schedule would take you through the end of August (or later), so if you were planning to apply for Round 1, then you would likely have to work on your applications while you were still studying for the GMAT. There's nothing inherently 'wrong' with that though, so this whole process now comes down to being efficient with everything that needs to get done. You have to keep your REAL goal in mind - to get into your first-choice Business School. It's likely that you don't actually need a 740+ to do that; it's also possible that you could apply for Round 2 and be just fine.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly.
