Hi, I am from south america and I don't know if traveling to new haven for interview actually makes a difference for my application (it is quite expensive).
Any advice?

Supposedly doesn’t matter either way. I’d just interview from your home country.

Wouldn't travel unless you would like to go and see the campus. Doesn't matter for admissions purposes though.

Do you perform better face to face or over Skype?

I spent $700+ for an on campus interview and it was worth every penny.

I actually prefer skype interviews as its much more relaxed and your not as nervous. Being located in South America you'll have a perfectly valid excuse, so definitely stick with the skype.

Last year R2 I had an applicant who applied to several schools and only did a Skype interview for Kellogg. Interestingly he got into Stanford, Booth and Berkeley but was rejected from Kellogg. I agree with the person who said go for the option that best suits your Forte. If you're not good on camera just go and leverage that trip for other visits.
