Hi ads23,
I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. If you can answer a few questions, then we should be able to figure this out:
When you took your CATs:
1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take them at home?
3) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you plan to take your Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE?

Hey Rich,
I took my last two CATs (THE EXAM PACK ONE) with both Essay and IR. They actually helped me in warming up for the main test. I usually took the CATs around 9-10 am because my test was at 8 am (also I was quite nervous the night before the official test, so could not get enough sleep) One possible reason. I took the tests at the library, but since I couldn't download the software on the school's computers, I had to use my laptop. My breaks were always timed. Never took more than a second. And also never paused the test. With the questions part, they were similar to the
OG, but I hadnt seen any of the questions before. On my official GMAT, the quant questions were very similar to the ones in the
OG.
After I was done with the test, I ordered ESR (it is attached to the earlier post). I do not know why I wasnt given harder questions. On the CATs, I also got my initial ones wrong, but still managed to pull it off.
