Hi krutik123,

These CAT scores essentially show that you're 'relatively close' to your score goal, but you can't seem to hit it. Taking more CATs is not going to provide the solution that you're looking for though (you'll likely continue to score in the same general range). While the 'blocks' of CATs available from Kaplan and Veritas should suit your needs, it would be a mistake to focus on taking lots of additional CATs before your Official GMAT.

Right now, you're making just enough little mistakes to keep you from hitting your score goal. At your current scoring level, the GMAT becomes really 'sensitive' to little mistakes - if you make too many, then a 740+ becomes impossible to achieve. Thus, you really have to do some 'nitpick' analysis of your recent CAT scores to determine WHY you're getting questions wrong.

On your last CAT, how many questions did you get wrong that you SHOULD/COULD have gotten correct? Can you define WHY you missed the question? Improving those little areas is what is essential - increasing the precision in your physical test-taking 'work' is what will take your score to the next level.

What materials have you been using during your studies?

Hi,firstly, thanks for that piece of advice.
Material wise-
Study materials-
OG2015
OG verbal review 2016
Og quant review 2016
Manhattan verbal series.
Test-taking material-
Notepad and a ball pen.

On your last CAT, how many questions did you get wrong that you SHOULD/COULD have gotten correct? --
I will split up the response to this-
Quant-i made around 7 mistakes(during the latest test-q49-GMATPrep 4 exam) of which I think I could have easily avoided 4 of those(reason:when I looked at those problems while revising I was able to answer them in the given time)
Verbal-I made around 13 mistakes of which I could have avoided around 5 mistakes.

Can you define WHY you missed the question? -- I cannot exactly figure out why I missed those questions first time .
Possible reasons-dip in concentration, time crunch,or just a time when my brain stops responding.

Hi krutik123,

Since most of your study resources have been print materials, you've had to develop your own organization and note-taking and THAT might be part of the problem. In your analysis, you've deduced that you could have (or SHOULD have) answered 9 additional questions correctly on your last CAT, but didn't because of some small errors/mistakes. So we've found your 'missing points' - now you have to train yourself, and do the necessary practice work and repetitions, to get those points every time. Taking a CAT will allow you to measure how much you've done to improve in this area, but it will NOT lead to improvement on its own.

Need advice on some great practice tests that have questions similar to the ones on the actual GMAT.
I have already used MGMAT and the official GMAC tests(2-paid and 2-unpaid),once.
:)

Hey krutik123

We can't comment for other tests but do note that no test prep company's algorithm will exactly match the real thing. The best we can do is get close.

You can always take a free GMAT PILL practice test here complete with detailed performance and timing analytics: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... ctice-test

In terms of our scoring, many of our students report scores that are +/- 30 points from their actual GMAT test and so are a relatively good indicator of their performance. That said, no practice test can perfectly replicate the actual score algorithm, but this is quite close.
