Hello,
Hi Flis1986, thanks for reaching out.I'm an Israeli male (30), and i'm interested to apply to a top10 MBA program.
Dry stats:GMAT: 690 (Q:50, V:34, IR:6).
TOEFL: pending
Work experience: - Intelligence Corps, Israel Defense Force: 3 years.
- Analyst in a family business, dealing with exporting metals and real estate, 3 years
- Associate in one of Israel's top5 law firms, 1 year.
- International tax consultant at Ernst & Young (EY), 2 years.
It will be important as you tell this story to connect the dots of why it made sense to go from law to tax and how role in family business helped in all areas.Education:Law degree from a University in Israel, GPA: 4.0.
Goals:I am looking for an MBA program with a concentration in Finance (investment banking, private equity, venture capital) or Strategic Consulting.
Based on the information listed above, I would like to know your input on the following:
1. What are my chances of getting into London Business school, my first choice, or a top5 school in the US?
I think your LBS chances are over 50%, your GMAT is a little shy but if you can make a compelling case in telling your story you may make it in.2. I understand that schools like Cambridge and Oxford offer a one year program. Is such a program relevant to someone that is looking to switch industries?
I think the internship component will serve you well and I would make sure I get that experience in an MBA program. In terms of putting the best spin on several job moves in a relatively short span, I suggest at least talking to an admissions consultant to get some ideas on how to best position this- From this link you can request a free consult and learn how even an hour or two on strategy review can help you make your best case.
