I applied to a few schools last year and was rejected without interview. I'm reapplying to a few schools this year but was wondering on how to best position my reapplication essay.
Hi doctorb! Thanks for your question. You always want to look to frame how you've grown in the past year- I'd use what you mention- you are now enrolled in HBX and you won a scholarship for CEIBS- what did you learn, how can you now be more specific in what you want from the MBA? Use that.
The GMAT score is a wash- I would not really focus on that.
Go into detail about your company's successes in past year and your role in contributing to that.
This will help you in re-application- the two things I always wanted to know in looking at a re-app-- why do they still want this school- what specifically has them movitvated to try again and how are they a better candidate than last year. And also- if they could get feedback on why they were not successful- did they get it and did they improve? Background
28/Male/Indian but raised in the Middle East
Undergrad - Computer Science from UK University - not Oxbridge but Russell Group - Upper second class degree
Postgrad - International Business from the same university - Upper second class degree
7 years work ex - 5 years in digital marketing of which 1.5 were in a leadership role. 2 years managing my family business in Middle-East.
GMAT - 710 (Q49, V38, IR8). I also reappeared and got the same score but with a Q48, V40, IR5 breakdown.
Admitted to HBX CoRE to start in October (so it's past round 1 deadlines).
Spent a week at CEIBS for their pre-MBA boot camp.
1. Should I mention that I retook the GMAT and got the same score? I've cancelled the score but I'm within the window to reinstate it.
2. Does the enrollment in HBX and time at CEIBS (won a scholarship there) count as growing my profile?
3. I haven't had a change in work profile because it's my family business but I've had some new success.
Any other advice on how to best leverage my reapplications?
