What a rollercoaster

Scored 680 on the in-person test today.
V40,Q44, IR4

Gmat online score was 640: V30, Q48, IR6

So weird. But I’m at my lifetime limit.

I reattempted the gmat to bluster my IR and re-present myself to LBS in a different manner.

I guess psychologically I just felt a bit burnt on the process, which is probably why I scored lower on the second section of each test I took (quant was second in the in-person).

Quite a bummer but at least I have the 710 (I guess)

I think I was in a different headspace this time-Less motivated, more burnt out-but then again who knows.

Practice test scores leading up to it were 730 on veritas, 750, GMATPrep, 740 gmat prep (hadn’t touched this exam for two years and most questions were new to me at least consciously).

How was ur test center experience with mask and all? Does that affected your performance.

Thanks

Actually it was optional to wear a mask. They separated everyone one computer’s distance apart.

Was a good experience. The proctor was a bit of a newbie, but nontheless all good.

On 9th september 2020, if the score improves i will apply with that to ISB and plan my next 10 days purely on application.

We usually murmur or our lips move when we read a passage or any other question, although we don't utter anything and our volume is also negligible, but our lips still move.
Are we allowed to do so in case of the Online GMAT?

Proctors will usually disapprove of any appearances of talking. If your lips are moving, you may be asked to stop lip/mouth movements that may indicate communications.

Guys please help me out with few more points
1. Quite often, even after closing the windows and doors of the room, we tend to hear noise of traffic, members talking in the house or the doorbell ring. Would the proctor raise an objection to such noises, because they are not in our control.
2. I have prepared my room for the exam and my desk has a glass cabinet, am I supposed to cover the glass cabinet with white paper so that nothing inside the cabinet is visible?

For me the background noise did not cause any problem with the proctor. I had sirens outside my window, and my pet parrot was screaming at one point...I would ask for your family member's support and try your best to eliminate the sound of them talking though. I also had glass door cabinets or even no door cabinet in my room. I just made sure nothing inside could trigger any doubt of foul play (no books, anything with text, electronics etc.).

Thanks, i'll probably cover my cabinet with a white cartridge sheet to avoid any chance of foul play.

Hi guys -

Just wanted to update everyone here that I took the in-center GMAT yesterday and had a horrible experience. I had finished Quant, Verbal, and IR and was just starting with the AWA section when the computer system lost connection. The proctor tried to solve the glitch but wasn't successful. He had to ultimately raise the issue with Pearson and they asked me to reschedule and retake the exam. I am not sure if anyone else had a similar experience before.

This was my second attempt at the GMAT. I took the Online GMAT in July and the experience was pretty neat (though my score wasn't).

Hi,

I registered for the online exam this Sunday, but I am not confident that I'll reach my target score. So, I'm planning to reschedule my exam. Does anyone know what is the rescheduling fee for GMAT Online now?

Unfortunately yes. We have only 1 test center in Buenos Aires (700 km away from my city) and the center will be closed until politicians decide we should no longer be in quarantine.

I agree time management can be a huge problem. What happened to me is I received a lot of weakening questions with answers that never went straight with my prethinking, maybe I missed many of them and waste a lot of time. It´s a pity I cannot see the % in each of the verbal subsections (SC, CR, RC) that would give me a clue where I missed. So I have no option than to review each of them.

I took the GMAT Online August 14th and still didn´t receive any news. I also sent an email yesterday and didn´t receive any response too. Neither I received any chat nor warning from the proctor during the exam, so I don´t know what´s going on.

Hope to get the results soon, I´ll let know.

I received my score 2 hours ago.

Got a 49 in Quant (I thought I didn´t do well because I found it kind of easy, I usually got a 46 in my mocks). I remember that I missed two medium/hard questions but still got a good score.

Surprisingly, I got a 31 in Verbal, my last score in Verbal was 46 in Gmat Prep and I never scored lower than 36 since my first e-gmat mock in January, I really don´t know what happened in this section. I remember I started with a CR question that couldn´t solve it properly and I ended the Verbal section with 2 RC with the last passage being a very hard one and I couldn´t answer the questions with 100% certainty (time issue too). Still, I am amazed with the score in Verbal, in the last 5 mocks (e-gmat, experts global, 800 score, gmat prep) I did I got 38,40,49,41,46 in Verbal.

Not so much to do, unfortunately I cannot take the Gmat in test center cause we´re still in quarantine in Argentina...

Sorry to read about the low score in verbal. You did well in quant, so I would suggest working on a few things for verbal.

You have to manage time well on the verbal. If you end up getting long passages at the end, you will be short of time. If you spend too much time on the first few questions, you may face the same issue of time. Verbal can be challenging in that respect. Guess at some questions, but don't guess at several questions in a row, and move to the next question. You also need to make sure that you are doing well on each of the three sections of RC, CR and SC.

Some countries have both the online test and the in-center tests available. Are all in-center places shut down in Argentina?

wow. Sorry to hear about your experience. That is super annoying. This unfortunately happens sometimes. There was a person who had fire alarms going on during their test and they had to leave the room and leave the question/section. The staff said they can get him back to start where he had ended but that was not true. They rarely seem to be able to restart the test from the spot people take off and either 5-10 mins are lost or the whole section.
https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-debrief ... 32375.html

If the staff says, we will restart from the same point, Verbalize the time, and say how much you had left - e.g. 16 minutes and 30 seconds remaining. I need you to give me 16 mins and 30 seconds, though if there is any disruption, you may as well just reschedule :(

I'm in the same situation as juancruzcba. I did my Online GMAT at the start of this month and I got a good quant score (50) but a bad verbal score (33) for a total of 680... Probably I can't use this score to apply to my dream schools. Likewise, my local test center is closed because of the pandemic, therefore I can't retake the exam.

I'm planning to switch to the GRE because one can give that test every 3 weeks. Has anybody here tried something similar? I don't know how many time it could take me to adapt to the a new exam...

Another reason to consider taking the At-Home GRE as an alternative to the GMAT Online: you can earn a perfect 170 GRE score with up to 1 question wrong on Quant (39/40 = 97.5% correct), and with up to 3 questions wrong on Verbal (37/40 = 92.5% correct).

However, to earn a perfect 800 on the GMAT you need to answer all 58 counted questions correctly (30 on Verbal and 28 on Quant)--even just one counted question wrong on Verbal can drop you from V51 to V48, for example.

But GMAT is a much tougher exam, the penalty is more, i gave a mock last week and got a Q49 with 4 questions incorrect, i should have got a Q50 with this number until i realized that the last question went unanswered and i guess the penalty was equal to 3 incorrect questions, leading to Q49. I just read a few blogs related to the conversion of GMAT to GRE scores and found that my GMAT 690 is equal to GRE 326 which is considered a safe score in GRE.
