Is there any chance that GMAT retracts their statement regarding retakes at the end of September? Not sure why they haven't at least updated the site to include a general update.
That's highly unlikely. Yes, it's strange that the mba.com website still indicates that GMAT Online retakes are not allowed, but technically, that is still true until the "end of September," when this policy change is due to become official, as previously announced via email by GMAC to those of us with active mba.com accounts.

So if someone took the exam before the whiteboard requirement, then one exam after the whiteboard requirement but before retakes were available, will they be able to take 3rd exam in October when retakes are allowed?
I've wondered about this too, but for now I'm assuming that even those test-takers will be allowed to retake, unless GMAC says otherwise.

The underlying logic is that everyone deserves two attempts with the physical whiteboard, since the online ("OnVue") whiteboard requirement made the exam more challenging.

We're also still awaiting information as to whether this 2nd GMAT Online exam will count toward the yearly and lifetime limits.

My Debrief: https://gmatclub.com/forum/terrible-gma ... l#p2614969
I got my score (720 Q49 V39 IR6)

I sent a response to GMAT asking for a retake (technical issue as I was taking the exam; I took the exam prior to June 10 without the whiteboard) and this is what they replied:

Kinda pissed, I would rather have another go at a retake than the $200 refund. I had 10 mins less on the verbal section, which really threw off my timing

So now the question is for people who took the online exam twice already, are we able to get a retake at the end of September?

bb mcelroytutoring you may find GMAC's response useful

Your test experience was rather poor (from your debrief). GMAC has refunded your fees. This may mean that they acknowledge the issues and in order to avoid any further complications, they have given back your fees. It appears that they decided to stick with their prescribed number of test attempts and did not wish to offer a retake option, regardless of the issues acknowledged.

As per postings here and elsewhere, there will be a retake attempt offered at the end of this month. Currently, the online test can only be taken once.

Interesting letter/note. Never heard of this situation where one has “exhausted” their retakes.

People who have taken GMAT twice with and without the whiteboard, have been sent an email offering for them to retake at the end of September.

Now the big question is if they'll give the opportunity to those who took the exam twice already (before the whiteboard and afterward) another retake. If GMAC were more clear on their guidelines, I wouldn't have taken the exam before the whiteboard was allowed :/. I bet there were tons of people who rushed to take the exam before the whiteboard was introduced just to take advantage of the extra "retake"

GMAC is adjusting their policies as the situation develops. The earlier guidelines that were applicable to the whiteboard-only option were created to address a prevailing situation at that time. The situation is different now and they have issued new guidelines, such as the option for a retake. You may well be allowed a retake but official confirmation is needed.

You can Retake GMAT Online Starting Sept 23!
Bring your cash with you - the price for GMAT Online is going up and change/cancelation fees are back in style. Also, the GMAT Attempts will count towards lifetime max and yearly max counts  Of course GMAC could not just provide anything positive on its own.... any positive tidbit has to be followed with a spoonful of junk.

Quote:
GMAT™ Online exam: Retesting and more beginning September 23, 2020

New! Option to Retest Coming September 23, 2020

You will soon have two opportunities to take the GMAT™ Online exam to help you achieve your target score.
Beginning September 23, 2020, 12:01 am Eastern Standard Time, you will have the option to take the exam twice. In addition, GMAT™ Online exam attempts will now be included in the GMAT™ exam rolling 12-month and lifetime limits (exam attempts prior to September 23, 2020, will be excluded from these limits).

With two opportunities to take the GMAT™ Online exam, you gain:
• Flexibility and peace of mind with an online retesting option given the uncertainty of test center availability
• Time to plan your prep strategy and application submissions
• Opportunity to improve your score and present a compelling application to your target programs
• Choice between which score(s) and when you want to report your scores to schools
• Unlimited score sending to your target programs
We are pleased to offer this latest enhancement as yet another option to help you meet your b-school goals.

Pricing Updates
Effective September 23, 2020, 12:01 am local time, the price of new GMAT™ Online exam appointments will be adjusted to US$250*.
Additionally, the GMAT™ Online exam reschedule and cancellation fees that were temporarily waived due to COVID-19 will be reinstated; the appointment reschedule fee will be US$25 and the appointment cancellation fee will be US$100. Learn more about applicable fees.
This price adjustment more closely aligns the test center and online exams and reflects our commitment to deliver flexibility and continuous enhancements including:
• Unlimited and free score reporting
• Exam accommodations
• Choice of physical and/or online whiteboard
• Post-exam score review and control before sending to programs
• Additional retesting options (starting September 23)
The GMAT™ Online exam is accepted by over 7,000 programs globally and scores are valid for five years—just as the GMAT™ exam taken at test centers. And as COVID-19 continues, we are committed to continuing our support and offering you the choice and flexibility of both the online and test center options.
Regards,
The GMAT Team

Finally the email with date for online retake is out. Though the price is adjusted to 250$ for those in situation as am waiting for retake announcement, I think GMAT with new price is a far better option than looking in the direction of GRE.

The quest continues.....

Thanks bb for the update!

Even in these times they want $$$ :dazed

Would the score be visible to the schools if we decide not to cancel it and not to send it?

I am curious why you think it is better than GRE. I don't have an opinion per se as I am not very familiar with the GRE at Home but curious why you think so.

I don't know if my justification might seem relevant but doesn't the fact that MBB and a few other top firms still look at your GMAT score while recruiting make a good case for GMAT over GRE?

I believe the after school prospect might also have a role to play in your choice of testing.

Correction: I have edited my previous reply.

I have checked and there is a field on the application that asks for the GMAT Scores but it did not seem to have impact, at least people could not detect that it somehow influenced the decision to be invited to an MBB interview.

Maybe you also want a break? or be able to see your score right after the test? or maybe working software?
There has to be a healthy divide of unfriendliness between the test-taker and the administrator and GMAC has been very good at maintaining it.

I have not heard anything unfortunately and since the test is on a completely different platform (strange decision), the features of the in person and online GMAT will remain different.... and unfortunately as long as GMAC sees the GMAT Online as a temporary solution they will not be investing anything into the improvement of that platform.
