I got a 730 and was invited to interview, so one reason could be that they want a higher score for class of 2023 to remedy this issue, but I guess tepper will take a hammering in the rankings this year cause of the low gmat of class of 2022 Posted from my mobile device

Most of the schools raise their average GMAT by selecting Indian/Chinese applicants who have an above average GMAT score. From what I have seen this year in GMATClub and Clearadmit, Tepper has not invited any applicants with a GMAT score of 700 or below. This is mainly due to this admission cycle being highly competitive and due to deferrals from the previous cycle. Personally, my only hope is that they waitlist me for this round and compare my profile with R2 applicants.

Oh wow! I never thought of it that way. I assumed the rankings were also a holistic process based on other factors. By that logic Kellogg, NYU, Ross should also be weighed down since they typically also have people with Lower GMATs on their class profile year after year.

Yes, I also noticed that, which is why it was very perplexing. Even the students who I spoke to didn't seem to think that GMAT was the only factor. I think I just had a reality check, but I hope it isn't.

It is a wholistic process but gmat is one of the key metrics, as it is a objective measure and showcases your desirability to the "smartest" applicants. If all the other schools you mentioned also show such a significant drop in the avg gmat then tepper may not suffer much but otherwise its ranking will surely be affected.

It certainly is one way to figure out how well-versed someone is in exam-taking, but it certainly is not a measure of smartness as the word itself carries a lot of breath and depth. However, I suppose one can't blame them for wanting to take the safe bets.

My GMAT score is 660 and had my interview with Tepper. I think you still have a good chance. I suspect they will send many interview invitations on the final decision date.

I saw some of the discussions on GMAT score and I want to highlight that Tepper is very analytical program and higher GMAT score or Undergrad GPA is very good indicator of analytical abilities. Also competitive pool tend to have a higher range of GMAT scores if the profile is similar. For example Indian pool - mostly are engineers and with a background of Computer science (myself included), so GMAT scores becomes a good indicator apart from Essay Goals and mutual fit with the School.
