I think 80% of the essays are written by guys (so-called admission counselors) who first study you and make you correct them so many times as to practically write those essays for you. That’s what makes the essays useless. But that’s only my opinion. Seems lime others don’t think this way. Anyways, thanks to everyone for the discussion 😊
I wouldn’t deny that. The essays weren’t meant to be moulded like that. But that does happen in most cases. Which is why interviews are a non-negotiable criteria in most schools.

Also, there’s ChatGPT now for the adcoms to worry about too

Essays are corrected to present their cohesiveness - a quality which almost everyone lacks ( there are 100s of grammatical mistakes even in the adcom emails :) ). if someone else is writing the essay for you and not getting caught - well then that’s their luck :D

I don’t think 80% applicants hire consultants. They are really expensive!

ChatGPT essays are so generic and boring and obnoxiously shallow that no adcom would actually be worried about chatGPT essays. I wouldn’t use it even for my rough draft.

Agreed. And if you’re getting a cheap one, you’re probably ruining your essay than improving it.

Unfortunately, I know people who used it and then also received interview invites. :’)

Then those to must be mutually exclusive events - they used ChatGPT, found it useless and then hired consultants

I can see on livewire that Cornell is giving out admits in R2. Is this usual for the school or does this mean no more further interview invites expected?

Anybody interviewed via consortium super day? Do they normally wait for the actual final day to release admit decision or do they roll that out slowly too? I’ve seen anywhere from 6 days to 20 days. Just unsure how they do it. I interviewed last week.
