Hi dips1122,

Both a 720/Q48 and a 730/Q50 are outstanding Scores, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. Since many Programs (and especially Finance Programs) put more of an emphasis on the Quant Scaled Score, the 730/Q50 would likely be better for your applications.

Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Thank you Rich. I am actually confused because of the low IR score. Some schools, such as Yale SOM have mentioned that we can send multiple scores to them and that they will consider the best sectional scores. Do you think that holds true?

You should report both scores but if you only have one gmat field in your app, I’d go for the 730. The jump in your quant looks a lot better than the jump in IR.

Can you really choose a score ? I don’t think so ...

This is from my score report :

At your request, an Official Score Report - School Copy has been sent to the graduate management program(s) listed below. All of your GMAT exam scores from the past five years were reported to each program. Please allow three weeks for the programs you have designated to receive your score reports.

According to this , Both scores (since , you didn’t cancel either ,I guess ) will be sent to your schools.....

Oh, that's news to me, really. What happens if we select different schools in different GMAT exam slots? Say, for example, I chose 5 schools for my 1st GMAT attempt, to which my official score card was sent. Then I re-attempted GMAT and selected 5 different schools. So do the latter 5 schools get both the scorecards? This is really confusing..

Your scorecard will have all your valid scores. That’s how the GMAT rolls :)

However if you have sent an old score, you have to send the updated score again. But if you send the new score, your old score will automatically be sent.

Makes sense?

Hi dips1122,

I agree that you could submit both scores; however, if you had to select just one score go with the higher quant score of Q50 and the higher overall score of 730. I realize you are concerned about IR but a higher overall score and higher quant score are more important than a lower IR score.
