Applying with a terminal degree can be a bit tricky, and will require a very clear build out of WHY you need an MBA at this juncture. You have to navigate that they will be asking themselves this when they read your app, so this needs to be hashed out ahead of time. I would connect with programs individually and discuss your goals and see if they can connect you with folks who have done something similar. If not, it can be a sign they don’t take many with that path. Do some close research and work on the why!

Thank you very much for your reply. Could you also please suggest me if it is a bad idea for me with 9 years of work experience to opt for a 2 year MBA program ? Are my chances less for a 2 year MBA than a 1 year MBA ?

I do see that as you get in the 7-8+ years range the FT can be a bit of a harder sell as the avg #of years is much lower at many schools

Manufacturing and government experience is a great combo with a lot of value add to the business school classroom. With 8 years you are getting to the higher end of the pool for the FT MBA. Most schools offer career assistance although a lot of the initiative needs to come from you :-) You might want to look at some of the European schools (which have a higher average experience level) unless you are specifically targeting the US or elsewhere?

Interesting. Thank you! So you are saying I should email the programs and essentially get an early view from them about how they feel about applicants with a PhD? Hmm... I fear they’ll say wait for a few years and do EMBA or something, but I guess no harm in asking.

mainly the curriculum! The TECHMBA curriculum has 4 major components:
The Business core
The Technology Core
Stern Solutions (Experiential Learning)
Elective courses

It feels more structure to many students. Some people want this, some do not! STEM OPT is also a factor/difference.
