Hi there, you have some great experience behind you and the shift to Malaysia shows some good international exposure. I assume you also have some leadership responsibilities? Don’t worry about the 2 year break - maternity leave is a good reason! - but make sure it’s clear on your resume and in your essays somewhere that’s why you were off work. 750 is a strong goal for your GMAT - good luck. Booth and Wharton are always stretch schools but with a strong application and good scores together with your breath of experience will help.
Bhu750
I kindly request you to evaluate my profile

28 year old / Indian / Female
Chartered accountant
CIMA - level II
Class XII - 98%

Work experience
3 years (as part of the CA course) at a leading CA firm, one among the top 10 in India and globally

Post qualification I moved to Malaysia because of personal reasons. My work exp here is as follows:
1 year - senior finance executive - leading the accounts payable and treasury team reporting directly to the CFO.
1 year - Senior internal auditor at an Oil and gas company performing process audits
2-year career break post maternity

Currently a partner working remotely at a Venture capital/incubator based in Chennai and also the Finance head of a startup, an online portal for second hand homes resale.

Extracurricular/Achievements:

Best outgoing student award at Class XII
First student in my school to achieve 100% in 3 subjects in Class XII board exams
Best audit team of the year award - for audit of a leading hotel
Part of the school eco club - planting saplings, waste segregation drive
Teach English to students at an NGO called Naane Khawab.

Post MBA goals
Corporate finance, corporate startegy, internal advisory

Wharton/Booth - would i qualify?
I’m worried about the 2 gap years and post qualification work experience in small/medium companies

GMAT - yet to give (Target 750 - July end)

32 year old, Male
Nationality - Mexican
-Education background: undergrad in University of Illinois - UC
2.98 GPA
-GMAT: 620 targeting 650+ on next test
-Professional background: 8 years of Work experience on Tech company (Cellphone comp we all know)
Currently working on FP&A and promoted two times. Started career with Marketing, then switched to FP&A upon recommendation of CFO
2 years on Marketing and held All Latin American Customer Forum and various sponsorship events
6years of FP&A on financial planning and analsis as well as monthly closing
-Target colleges: Tuck, Cornell Johnson, Duke Fuqua, Kellogg
-Post MBA goal: Consulting
-EC: Have been practicing Kendo for 4 years, and organized whisky tasting club in company
Questions-
1. I am concerned with GMAT score, since I see a lot of high scores on forum.
Do I have change on Cornell Johnson with current profile?
2. Which others schools can I target?
3. How to emphasize or which EC activities should I focus on essay

A higher GMAT score might help offset the lower UG GPA. You could also take a quant focused class - that could help. Johnson seems viable, and as far as ECs -- anything else you do at work, perhaps even informally? Think about impacts through informal mentorship -- or formal programs that might be easy to join. Always good to have some ECs that go beyond personal fun/hobbies -- and help others/show you will be a strong team member.

Those are great targets and you might also consider LBS. For US schools, perhaps research CBS for the ED round and or JTerm -- they tend to be flexible with applicants approaching your years of experience. Best wishes!

Hi, Congrats on your excellent GPA! It also sounds like you have a really strong track record from your time at Deloitte. Yes, schools really do value a family business background, as students often bring experience of different niche industries and additional leadership to the classroom. In addition to the colleges you’ve mentioned, if you’re looking outside the US you might also want to consider INSEAD and HEC in Europe.
