CBS thread is not as active this year as it used to be in the past. Hope new applicants will utilize this platform to discuss app strategies / updates with other applicants. Good luck to all who are applying in Merit fellowship and RD rounds.

In case this helps anyone, I scanned the previous discussion and have compiled the timelines of few ED applicants.

Quote:
ED Timelines
  • ED admit with a full-tuition fellowship for both years. Asian-American, 3.70 from a large state school, 770 GMAT. 2 years in consulting post-graduation (think Accenture, IBM, Capgemini) and the past 2.5 years in Africa (volunteer consulting for a while, now leading a team at an NGO).
    8/2 submission, 8/4 invite, 8/8 Skype, 8/11 offer.

  • NYC; GPA - 3.6; GMAT - 740.
    8/26 submission, 9/18 invite, 9/22 interview, 9/25 feedback submitted, 9/29 Offer

  • 8/30 submission, 9/20 Invite, 9/27 Interview, 9/28 feedback submitted, 10/2 Acceptance Call

  • 9/8 submit, 9/29 Invite, 10/13 feedback sent, 10/17 admit.

  • Rejected in ED, GMAT: 770, GPA: 7.1/10, WE: 72 months (Investment Banking), AGE:27, Mumbai, India
9/19 submit, 10/6 invite, 10/24 skype interview, 10/24 feedback submitted, 10/30 rejection email

Isn't this the case for more or less every forum this year Narenn? Something is amiss or seriously wrong in the admissions trend this year as compared to the past years: way little participation from applicants in the forums and schools delaying the process (mostly; IDK why). That is my reflection. What do you think?

Hey guys, just logged into my application and saw this

We have received the following documents from you:

10/25/2017 01:55 PM - TOEFL, PTE, or IELTS Score Report
10/25/2017 01:54 PM - GRE Score Report

then below there is a drop down menu where i can upload documents.

I don't understand why they put these two things on top instead of the list below with the green ticks..any hint?

Hi all,

I understand that all the ED R1 candidates will be evaluated before the RD R1 candidates, but does anyone have an idea as to when RD R1 Aug entry candidates (applied by Oct 4th) will get status updates? It looks like Columbia only posts that RD R1 Aug entry will find out April 11th 2018. Anyone have insights from last year's cohort? For some reason, I think that RD R1 Aug entry should find out about next steps (if any) by early Dec. AKA interview invites.

Just trying to manage expectations!

Mango

Benchmarking off the class of '19 forum, it looks like RD applicants who submitted early will start receiving interview invites in late November, early December.

I saw 2 people who have updated their status as Accepted under Regular Decision R1 on the website. Have they started reviewing and rolling out decisions of R1 applicants? Wanted to confirm on the timeline.

Hi all

I had an interesting post-result experience. Got rejected after interview ED, but my interviewer called me to tell how surprised she was at the result, mentioning that she gave me a 'glowing' recommendation and will follow up with Admissions. Wondering what went wrong and if this resonates with anyone here.

App timeline - applied 9/22, interviewed and feedback submitted 11/3, rejected 11/13

I always wondered how significant the alumn interviews are in the decision-making process. I imagine that while your interviewer liked you, she did not have the understanding the admissions committee has of the big picture and the class profile. You also happen to come from what I understand is an over-represented ethnic/national demographic so that may also have played a role. Best of luck in the appeal.

I would think it is still too early. They may wait until after Thanksgiving (so that no one has to try and schedule an interview with Thanksgiving in the way)

My feeling is that Columbia might have filled their quota of Indian Male Investment Bankers

Which IB in Mumbai..? boutique or bb or Indian Commercial Bank ?
