I got a ding email Friday afternoon; submitted my application September 29th. NYC based. Wish I would have at least been given the chance to interview, but ah well. Good luck to everyone else still in the game.

Hi Guys, am sorry if it's already been discussed. But any definitive timeline on commencement of operations of the Manhattanville Campus of CBS - have been reading conflicting reports. Website indicates 2021 but not sure how dated that statement is. Please let me know if you've heard anything recently from CBS on this. Thanks.

Last I saw it won't be open until 2022

Unrelated - anyone know when CBS starts looking into R1 regular decision? (Submitted my application 15Sep)

I am applying in the rolling round. From various sources, I heard that Columbia starts reviewing regular decision folks in early to mid November. So I am thinking about submitting at the end of this month or the beginning of November. Good strategy?

There was an on campus interview event on Saturday 10/21 which was new this year, I wonder if that has caused a shift in the timing this year? There's a handful of people over on Live Wire that all applied on or around the deadline waiting to hear something.

That might be true. I applied on the deadline, so quite frankly I don’t expect an early decision (amongst those who applied in ED). But who knows. I have heard they receive some 1000 odd applications on the day of deadline. It’s mad.

Yep, from reading last years forum, there were a few earlier respondents but also some commentary on it being 4-6 weeks of you submitted on the deadline. I think if we get to Halloween and haven't heard anything, then there may be some open questions as to what's going on.

Congratulations! It took about 20 days for you to get a call. For those who applied on the deadline like me, it is taking longer than that.

Hey guys -

couple things..

Has anyone had a meet and greet with someone from the Hermes Society? Through a friend at CBS I am meeting someone in my industry this saturday.. Descriptions on their site read they work closely with admissions. Any idea if they relay feedback from these types of things? Almost like a screening process before a ding/interview? Any thoughts or insights at all are much appreciated.

2) Too much time digging on last years forum, looks like final large batch of releases came at the end of this week last year.. obviously some outliers but wanted to share that.

When I did a class visit at Columbia part of the day was Q&A with a Hermes Society member. I found him very helpful, not just for admissions related questions but for real, honest input about what the school was like. I actually used some of the information he told me to help answer the "how will you spend your time at Columbia" question. I think the student could be a valuable resource to gain insight into what Columbia has to offer, specifics about the culture, etc. that would be great to have for an eventual interview.

I'm not sure if they are part of the process or not. I know the reason we include a photo with our application is so that different members of the admissions committee can jog their memory if they've met us, what they thought, etc. Not sure if they include Hermes Society members in this process or not, but I think it's a good idea to make a great impression on anyone you meet. You never know.

I talked to a couple of people in Hermes society and found them very helpful. Don't think they were involved in the screening process. Make sure you put their name in the application though. Either in an essay or the section in the application for listing who you spoke to.

Hi all --

Hope we all hear something this week (!)

Had a question about the portal..
When I log in it just says "Application Status for ______"
After that it says:
"If you need to contact us regarding your application, provide your name and this reference number: 173486476."

Weird that there's no official status?

Thanks and good luck all!
