I had my interview yesterday but have not received event invite. What is basis for these invitations historically? Does it effect my chances?
I don't think so. The invite depends on city you mentioned on the application. I got an invite for Mumbai since I mentioned that on my application (as my permanent address). I mailed them for an invite for Bangalore event; however, they are not coming to Bangalore this year.
In short, if you are from a city where an event is not planned, you might not get an invite.
Don't fret over it brother. An invite to an "informal reception" doesn't decide the fate of your application. As aghosh54 correctly said, it seems to be random.
Be confident of your profile, your interview, and more importantly your fit for the school!
How's your interview experience guys? I'm not confident about my interview though. I fumbled a bit while answering some questions. And the interview was unstructured and conversational which was nice.

MSB AdCom does not call before the decision day. The candidates who were interviewed will get their decision either an email or call tomorrow(Dec 13th) COB. So I wish you all the best! Hang in there.
And send me a PM, if you have any questions regarding MSB, what's it is like to be a HOYA, or regarding applications for R2. Happy to chat & Help!
It's almost time. I think calls should go out in the next few hours!

Any idea whether we get scholarship info on the call itself?

By last year's thread, the applicants were not informed about the scholarship on call but this info was part of the admit letter which was available shortly after they were called.
