Hi thatolga93,

Many congratulations on this awesome score.

I am planning my exam in next fortnight.

I have 2 questions for you.

1. How is the real GMAT's difficulty level as compared with Gmatprep Mocks.

2. How would you rate Gmatprep verbal difficulty with respect to real GMAT's ?
Are the SCs similar or tougher ?

Hi Shivam1809,

To your first question: I found them very comparable but here is one thing: you are exercising using the official guides based on previous years' questions, so are you doing the mockups containing "old" material. Expect to have the same areas of knowledge tested but be ready to see really new problems on the actual tests. It is not like they just use the same problems with other numbers. The GMAT creators are amazingly creative, I found. But again, the difficulty was comparable!

To your second question: I loved my RC passages to be honest - they were complicated but perfectly structured. And you may already know that the structure helps more than the content! I also had one paragraph on feminism, and quite honest, for me as a girl, it was a piece of cake, and I could relate to the text. This helped!
SCs were just as in my mocks: easy & mid level in the first part, rather high level in the 10 to 20th questions (here it is important not to waste too much time), and again middle difficulty towards the end. So I found proper pacing extremely important - the questions towards the end were absolutely always relatively easy both in my mocks and in my real test, therefore it is vital to arrive to that concluding part of test with enough time (at least 1,5 min per question - provided that there will appear no RC anymore) and just collect those low hanging fruits! Disclaimer: I don't know whether everyone experiences this difficulty trend pattern in the test?

I wish you all the luck, and rest assured that you are perfectly capable of scoring at least the same result as in your mocks or even higher.

Hi bb! I am in the process of exploring the culture (by reading insider guides, visiting admissions webinars) to which I can relate. I work in product management in a tech company and I would love to get involved more in non-profit (let's say my dream internship would be Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). My current favorites are MIT, Stanford, Harvard and Kelloggs for their curricilum full of both tech/digital & social impact deep-dives.

Olga,

- thank you so much for the awesome tips.

- although i have never given real GMAT, Even i admit that in the multiple GMATprep Mocks i have given, the last 5-6 questions have definitely been on the easier side. My average score has been V41.
- Many have said a similar thing that Quant will be very similar to Mocks and that in Verbal SC and CR will be at par with official Mocks but RC will be a bit denser (yes i ask similar question from everyone who has given Gmat recently, exam jitters! :p).

- Wish you all the best for the phase 2 of your application.

Hi Olga - Congrats on this score and on HBS !!

You mentioned "I read the sentence correction book of MGMAT 3 days before the exam because I though I better store this amount of information in my short memory"

Did you really finish the 200 page book in 3 days ? I am taking 3 to 4 days per lesson [10 lessons]

Also -- how many full practice tests did you take before the final test ?

Thank you !

Hi, yes I did finish this book in three days😃 I pretty much ignored all the idioms - they barely show up - and this saves you a lot of time already. I did around 8 tests, I think to practice pacing (this used to be my issue). I did a test every weekend to keep myself fit. I did not do a test shortly before the exam not to be exhausted and no to get potentially demotivated in case I get some low score on a mock😃

Hi Olga -- Just wondering, as someone who was getting a v38 - v40, were you able to get a question like this correct in 2 mins ?

I got this question wrong and it took me an entire day (3 -4 hours) to understand the insights with regards to this CR question

I am not asking you for your insights (dont get me wrong), just wondering if someone who gets a 730 can easily do a CR question like this or would this be a skip for someone with your score

Very honestly: I'd skip (guess) this one. It takes a lot of mental power to even understand the question (weaken the force of the evidence - omg) and looks like a perfect question to waste 4-5 minute, which can be better spent otherwise, in my opinion.
