Education: BS in Economics with Finance Applications from private school ranked in overall top 40

Work Experience: 9
Profile:
- Spent entire career with a large texas single family office
- About half time spent on direct private energy investments in energy space, other half on investing in and alongside outside managed funds (HF, PE, etc) similar to an endowment
- Promoted to board member of series of trusts companies about 1.5 yrs ago, completed dozens of successful investments in energy and outside funds
- Applied to HBS/Wharton/Kellogg and a couple other FT programs a few years ago, all dings, I am sure due to GPA.
- Now looking at part time programs as I think it might be only way to get into top MBA program with my GPA
- Base salary ~150k
Extracurriculars
- Docent at large science museum. Wrote and teach two different classes to volunteers and museum employees about different topics in energy
I am ready and willing to travel every weekend for an MBA and am wondering my chances at Hass, Kellogg and Booth for the weekend programs.

Thank you for the detailed post. I agree that the GPA (as well as the GMAT truthfully) kept you out of the FT programs a few years ago. While a 700/710 GMAT would typically work for part-time programs, if you are looking at highly ranked programs, I recommend taking the GMAT again to try to overcome the 2.2. The reality is a 2.2 is quite low, so you would have to exceed the average GMAT score enough to try to compensate for the GPA. You have a shot now with your current profile given you have impressive work experience, but a higher GMAT would make you that much more attractive. Do you have it in you to try again? It is certainly possible to target some PT programs as is, I just wouldn't count on programs at the high end to work out with a 2.2. Most of the applicants I work with have a higher GPA even for a PT program and those who do not tend to take extra classes and/or score very high on the GMAT. Let's discuss further:
