Which is a better career choice do people think ? Joining ISB and getting MBA or being SWE in Vmware, Nvidia, Intel, Qualcomm, Walmart, etc. I am not including FAANG companies because they are miles ahead. But in terms of career prospects, moving abroad, pay, etc. which is the best choice ?

Asking hypothetically since I am not a SWE anyway and am a businessman. Although I used to be SWE after college.
As an SWE, you will eventually end up as a product manager. With an MBA, you could jump a few steps and directly make that transition. So pay and career - MBA is the way. But when it comes to moving abroad, SWE are much more in demand.

That's not true. You can be a PM without an MBA. Today there are PM bootcamps with industry tie-ups and I know so many people who transitioned to PM without MBA. Pay wise MBA will give an initial bump but it evens out 5 years later. But I do believe the knowledge and mindset developed from MBA can help become a great PM.

I agree here ^ MBA is one of the many, many ways you can get into a PM role. Like someone said earlier, MBA is a mid-long term play that has auxiliary benefits to just getting into the function of choice :)

About SWE/PM role - they are as different as roles can be. It really depends on your skillset and aspirations

I have applied for R1, but didn't get the interview call. Does ISB waitlist people from R1 to R2 ? I mean Will they consider people from R1 who didn't get the interview call to R2 round and then take a decision call with fellow R2 applications? I heard it in some group yesterday, please clarify

Don’t think so. If not shortlisted in R1, you’re out of the process. Isb usually doesn’t W/L without interview

There are 2 things to be considered here.
1. Will you get a call for an interview?
2. Chances of conversion once you get a call
For the 1st one, you should attempt GMAT again and try to score 710 or more. Then, you will most likely get a call. With 660 & Engineering background, it is really tough.
For the 2nd one, prepare for the interview and hit the ball out of the park.

With a 760 score, why are you apprehensive about your chances? How did your interview go?

Not being apprehensive, just that it’s not over till it’s over ka reverse hai yahan, you’re not in till you’re actually in.

I think its not the apprehension but the excitement beacuse somewhere unconsciously you are quite sure of your chances.
