Yes, this happens at the beginning.
Even if you take free trails of courses you won't be able to judge correctly. I would suggest to begin with some books, especially for verbal; Aristotle GMAT SC grail, Aristotle GMAT CR grail and Aristotle RC grail are great books to begin and boost confidence. You of course then would love to read Manhattan SC guide and powerscore CR bible.
Then you can take free trials of courses to evaluate which fits your style of studying and/or which is going to help in strengthening your weak areas.

Please press kudos if my advice, has helped you in at least to some extent.

You gotta pick something... you can try the empowergmat course. Rich is too modest to promote it but it is a great overall course. The advantage you can only get it for a month! And you get a trial in case you dont like it 👍

Hi Everyone,

I am preparing for GMAT and having a hard time with its verbal section. So far I am using OG21 for understanding different rules and conceps but it lacks a detailed explanation. I was looking into various verbal course and I am really confused as to which should I opt, I have attended there trial classes but even after that I am not able to judge the quality and authenticity of the content. I have reviewed Magoosh (only the plan), egmat and gmatwhiz, I am really confused is to how should I decide. Earlier I had attended WIZAKO'S sentence correction lecture on YouTube and I liked there approach, but the problem is Wizako is more of quant oriented and does not have much content on verbal.

I am looking for something which is similar to WIZAKO. Please can anyone of you help me as Verbal is making me depressed and demotivated.

Thanks.

Hi muggergammy,

I feel that GMATWhiz has an edge over egmat because of it's CR and RC module. GMATWhiz has a solid framework for CR and it has an elaborate module for RC which covers the strategies to eliminate answer choices as well. And I found SC to be mostly similar in both cases. I used GMATWhiz and improved my verbal score from 26 to 38, scoring 97 percentile on CR.

I feel GMAT verbal is mostly about eliminating four answer choices rather than choosing the right one. So, the strategies and the methods play a very important role. Make sure you choose the one which helps you with all these. All the best :)

the verbal course that i love more is:
1/ manhattanprep interact (very expensive)---> it is good for SC and CR
2/ empowergmat
3/ Ron's online class (the BEST one I have ever seen)
4/ Andrea Pawliczek's online class (perfectly fine for both quant and verbal)--She is manhattanprep instructor
5/ sandeep gupta's online class
hope it helps.
