Read somewhere that Reapplicants who interviewed in the past may not be required to interview again and Yale considers the past interview to evaluate. Not sure how true it is as this seems unlikely. Anyone knows how true is this? I was waitlisted last year and have not got an interview invite so far; getting anxious now.

Hi Johndoe2016,

I had the exact same question and was informed that Yale does not interview candidates who were interviewed recently and Adcom considers past interview feedback for evaluation. I can feel the same - it's difficult being a re-applicant since there is no communication until the final decision date. Most likely we will know only on the decision day.

Where did you get that information, crackdmba? Because I was a waitlisted R3 candidate last cycle and was re-interviewed this round as well. There were a number of people at interview day who had previously interviewed last cycle, though none (that I know of) had been waitlisted. There is a slight chance that I was invited as a fluke (long story), but assuming I was intentionally invited, it may not be common for SOM to re-interview, but it does happen. Perhaps not being re-interviewed is the better sign (though, for my sake, I'm hoping it is not!).

Thanks for your reply. Could you please let me know the source of this information? I felt my last interview was pretty good but got waitlisted because I’m an indian male with an avg gmat. Still I would love to interview again to discuss recent updates and reinforce my interest in SOM. I absolutely loved everyone I met at SOM and would consider myself lucky to go there.

Hi there, I'm a re-applicant to SOM as well, was waitlisted in Round 3 without an interview. I applied Round 1, haven't gotten an interview invite and I haven't gotten a rejection email...what does it mean if I haven't been interviewed at all? Should I expect a rejection dec 6 or is there a chance I could be invited to interview before then?

Hi guys,

May you give me some idea about what is the probability of getting selected for International applicant in Round 2 in Yale?

My thoughts are that the probably depends on where you are applying from e.g. India/China will be much more competitive. Being an 'international' applicant means it could be easier or harder depending on where you're applying from.

In terms of the actual probability, other than the high level acceptance data (you can find that yourself at a number of places), we don't have accurate data - just self-reported which is biased/unreliable. Good luck!

Hi, I am applying from India and I would give you a sneak peek of my profile.

B.Tech.: IIT
7.88/10
Work ex. 6 yrs. in a PSU ( Govt. Of India Enterprise)
Profile: Consulting in Clean Coal sector. Handled team to implement e-tendering. Involved in many diverse professional assignments and nature of job always necessitated to work as a part of team.

GMAT: 750 (AWA: 5.0 and IR: 8.0)

Now can anyone guide me about my chances of making into YALE?

bumping this up. If it helps, when I was waitlisted in Round 3 I took myself off the waitlist to work on strengthening my application for Round 1. So i was not rejected from the waitlist before.

I haven’t heard anything from Yale since my interview. Is that normal? Do you think they have different communication plans for people who they are going to admit vs. reject? See how my mind races to the worst possible scenario ? lol.

Even I haven’t heard back on anything since my interview. Probably they call the admits? And mail the rejects?! Haha anxiety is killing me!

Does anyone know the situation with Dean Snyder? Is he on sabbatical? Will the current acting dean eventually become the dean?

No, there isn't any communication between interview and admissions outcome day (December 6th for R1), unless of course you initiate it.

During Interview Day, the acting dean said that Dean Snyder was on sabbatical specifically to travel to the Global Network schools to strengthen those relationships and build up that program. So I'd imagine he is truly expecting to return. I believe I also read this somewhere.
