Perseverance Pays Off!

I took a Manhattan GMAT prep course during June/July 2016. Isaac Puglia was my teacher - phenomenal instruction and tips to pass the exam. My first practice exam I took I received a 530 . . . extremely low I know, but it was the first exam of it's type that I ever took.
Fast forward through the course, Isaac's teachings, Manhattan GMAT's material (especially the Navigator website offered) and taking the GMAT a few more times. My first official score reported was 610, a sizable increase from where I started. However, this would not be sufficient for the schools I wanted to apply.
I began to rethink my target schools and where I thought I could attend. I retook the GMAT, receiving a 600. Slightly worse and still little disappointed with my score. I decided to apply for a part-time program at UCLA.
In an effort to boost my candidacy, I looked at my splits, and scheduled a meeting with an MGMAT test adviser (very helpful, and I recommend taking advantage of this when offered). Then I hit the verbal books; purchased a verbal book, and did hundreds of practice problems in a span of 2 weeks. I retook the GMAT amidst the application process after being wait-listed by the program.
I achieved my highest score yet, barely missing the vaunted 700 club; receiving a 690. I was extremely pleased (however, slightly sad that I couldn't repeat my quant. score - which would've put me in the 700+ club) , accepted to UCLA shortly after and will be attending the program Fall 2017.
I would not have known where to begin when studying for the GMAT exam originally, The direction, accountability, and ability to reach Isaac anytime allowed me to succeed.

Manhattan GMAT - Completely Worth It!

Elaine helped me quickly identify my biggest areas of opportunity and helped me design a study plan to address these areas. During classes, she was not afraid to call on each member of the class so that everyone participated. And when my classmates or I answered questions incorrectly, Elaine walked us through the correct answers without judgement. Over the course of the class, Elaine helped us all participate more, which ultimately boosted our confidence as we covered the toughest materials. She also covered a variety of clever test-taking strategies, which really came in handy on exam day.

When I didn't score as high as I wanted to on my first official exam, Elaine had a follow up meeting with me and designed a re-studying plan that kept the material fresh and helped me strengthen my weak areas. On my second official exam, I was able to achieve my target score. I can't thank Elaine enough for her guidance through this process.

MGMAT Course can get you where you want!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Structured approach and qualified teachers are all that is needed for a successful GMAT experience. I am thoroughly satisfied with MGMAT prep. I found their practice exams more difficult than the actual GMAT but it motivated me to work hard. I had a first shot success on my GMAT. My peer group and my teacher Dan Patinkin were excellent.

Please stay consistent and do your homework. No one knows your weaknesses and strengths better than you. I repeated problems and understood the ones I did rather than focus on trying as many problems as possible. I stuck to OG problems for the most part. I took 7 practice exams (5 MGMAT and 2 GMATPREP). Good luck!

Course Manhattan Prep GMAT Private Tutoring

Instructor Chris Gentry

Location Ontario, CA USA

I started with a 3-month class-style course with Manhattan prep. It was an online course with 4 hours of class per week. This was great as I managed to cover all the required topics and brush up on my skills. After completing this course I did the GMAT and scored a 640 (Q52, V76). I definitely wasn't happy with this score and knew I could do better!
MPrep offered a free post course assessment (PCA) (which I did prior to the test) and then they also offered a free post exam assessment (PEA). This PEA helped me tremendously by pointing out specific areas I should focus on to bring my score up to a 700. I went on to take 3 hours of private tutoring with the same instructor who did the PEA. I then did the test again 5 months after the first test and this time my score went up by 100 points to a 740!

The PEA and private tutoring were gold! I would seriously recommend them in order to be able to put all your energy and effort towards specific topics which can actually help bring your score up instead of wasting time on trying to get the 'high-hanging fruit'.

My 3-month course instructors were Eric Garthoffner and Pedro Ledesma who were very thorough and kept me committed to a regular study schedule. My PEA and pvt tutoring instructor was Chris Gentry - he was phenomenal and continued to stay in touch much after my sessions ended and right up till the day I gave the second test with constant motivation and prep tips.

I would highly recommend Manhattan Prep as a resource to prepare for one's GMAT.

Good Luck!

MPrep w/ Isaac Puglia

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I had Isaac Puglia as my instructor for Manhattan Prep (GMAT) and I can't rave enough about the course and specifically Isaac as an instructor. I started MPrep in mid-March and was able to reach my goal - 700! which was more than a 100 point increase from my initial practice scores- in four months simply by following Isaac's instructions. I was initially hesitant to take a course as I thought I could simply buy a GMAT book and learn the material on my own but I can honestly say that would have been impossible. Such a huge part of the test is timing which means you need to be able to identify markers and question types relatively quickly to have a decent shot at completing the test. Isaac did a great job pointing out markers and providing frameworks for how to complete different types of quant questions which I found to be crucial during the test. I highly recommend Isaac as a GMAT instructor.

Manhattan Prep course is worth it!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the Manhattan Prep 9-session course in Palo Alto, with Ryan Jacobs as the instructor. First off, Ryan is the best instructor I could've hoped for! Ryan was excellent in all components of the test - verbal, math, writing, and integrated reasoning. There was a healthy amount of homework before each course, which I'd encourage you to always make a priority. There are also a couple of hours of videos before each course which are important to watch prior. During the class, we'd review some of the tougher homework problems as well as other problems.

I could never have studied as diligently on my own, and am glad that I took the in person class rather than virtual because meeting other people who were studying for the GMAT was helpful.

My initial baseline score was low 500s which was disappointing because I was hoping for 700+. Thanks to Ryan, on my official test I got a 720! I 100% recommend Manhattan Prep, and if you can take a class with Ryan Jacobs - do it!

Highly recommend the Manhattan Prep 9-Session GMAT Prep Course with Jamie Nelson and Mark Sullivan. The instructor support outside of class is worth every penny.

I signed up for the February - May 2017 session with zero GMAT experience, a ~50th percentile score on a diagnostic exam taken earlier in the year, and low confidence that I could hit my lofty ~95th percentile goal in time for application season. Manhattan Prep's GMAT curriculum is comprehensive and easy to understand, and Jamie/Mark's tailored instruction made the class of 15 students feel more like a 1-on-1 setting. What really stood out about Manhattan's offering is the unexpected benefit of having 2 GMAT pros at your side through the whole journey.

Jamie, in particular, went above and beyond to support me outside of class, taking extra time to explain concepts I struggled with and build my confidence. By the end of the 9 week course, I really felt as though I had an ally and friend personally invested in my success and rooting for me to reach my goal. Jamie sent me additional problem sets and took time to ensure all my questions were addressed, even beyond the course's last session. She also sat down with me for a Post Course Assessment, which, beyond yielding a tailored study plan, really built my confidence going into my first exam in early June. I ultimately scored ~90th percentile - a bit short of my goal but a vast improvement.

Following the first exam, Jamie stewarded me through the Post Exam Assessment (PEA) process, and regularly checked in to see how things were going as I prepped for round 2 in early July. During this time, GMAC announced Order Selection - naturally Mark and Jamie weighed in on what my best approach might be and were always available to answer content related questions. With their continued support and the PEA study plan, I ultimately returned to the exam with even greater confidence and hit my 95th percentile goal.

Although a significant investment of time and money, the course materials, supportive instructors, and confidence build that this class affords will position you for success. Couldn't have done it without Manhattan - thanks, Jamie and Mark!

I took the Manhattan Prep Bootcamp with Dmitry and Liz. The course offers a quick way to improve performance on the gmat. Both Liz and Dmitry are great teachers, explaining the most straightforward and effective way to understand gmat questions, especially higher level questions. The course particularly helps students work on their development areas; Manhattan Gmat offers many practice exams, the results of which can be used to guide further study plans.

Manhattan Gmat offers the two one-on-one 30 minute sessions with the instructor, where the instructor looks at your practice test results and identifies what you need to work on. Liz reviewed my practice test results, and she told me that I needed to focus on my verbal section, and that I needed in particular to look at critical reasoning inference questions. This advice helped me properly prepare and perform my best on test day.

The materials offers by manhattan gmat are also very helpful. I particularly liked their sentence correction guide, but there are many guides available for every area of the test. These materials are invaluable for self-study, and they're available for many months after you take the course. I am very satisfied with my performance on the gmat, and I am sure that the class helped significantly.

Thank you Mprep Instructors Sergio & Ceilidh!

I recently wrapped up my GMAT experience after having taken a Manhattan Prep full online course with instructors Sergio & Ceilidh. From the very beginning, the GMAT posed as a serious obstacle to my business school plans. Before I got into the course I had attempted to self-study, picking up various second-hand study resources. This route just wasn't going to work for me: the complexity of the exam and the body of work was just too overwhelming. I finally decided to pay the money and get into the full online course. I'm so glad I did!

Right from the get-go it was evident that both Sergio and Ceilidh not only knew their stuff but also possessed the sort of teaching style that can only come from rigorous training and much time spent in a classroom. They were organized, insightful, thorough, and (perhaps most important) fun instructors. The structure of the weekly class and intense but manageable homework assignments helped to keep me on track. It was definitely a lot of work but it was well worth it. I'm perhaps most appreciative of the individual attention that Ceilidh and Sergio would give me, via out-of-class emails and the follow-up PCA/PEA. They definitely encouraged me to push myself further than I would have had I gone it alone!

If you're looking for a GMAT prep course, I'd highly recommend going with Manhattan Prep. If you can get in a course with Ceilidh and Sergio, all the better!

Reed - The Real Deal

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Manhattan Prep provides an unparalleled experience. As a test taker who has worked with two different companies, I must admit that Manhattan Prep offers the most value and the best services. I enrolled in the 9-session GMAT prep course and had the pleasure of working with Reed Arnold. Reed was friendly from day 1 and somehow found a way to help me actually enjoy my 3-month study period !

Reed led classes with a unique style that incorporated humor, lessons from his past and proven best practices. Reed always paused for any questions and had an impressive way of ensuring that all students would leave each class feeling positive and confident. Even more impressive, Reed remained available at all times by keeping his promise that he would always respond to any question or urgent request for advice via email! I personally emailed Reed on a weekly basis and am very happy to report that he consistently responded with thoughtful and timely responses and extremely helpful insights. Reed truly cares about all of his students and will take time out of his day or weekend to help any student.

Working with Reed helped me move my overall GMAT score to a 680. I am very happy with this score and was able to make a massive quant jump (37 before to 47 after) because of the combination of Reed's abilities as an instructor and the high-quality/comprehensive structure of the Manhattan Prep course. I plan to take the test again on July 5th and feel confident that I am now capable of scoring even higher!
