I read somewhere that around 400 people apply in R1 and out of that around 150 are called for interview (depending on the quality of applications). Was inquisitive if this no is right. Can someone share input on this.

P.S. I hope posting this is not against forum norms.

Till last year there was no reference required with the interview invite, has this changed? I think they take reference names at the time of admission/confirmation.

Also, regarding number of candidates called vs applied, IIMA has all the previous data uploaded on its website. The ratio looks more like 50% are invited for interview.

Hey ruwithrdx,

Does the school check with the reporting manager during the interview process or after the applicant is admitted?

If its the former then it is not at all good from an applicant's perspective. The candidate can potentially be fired if the company get to know this info

Let me know your thoughts

After admission. But my question is, why would you give the name of a person as reference who would actually report you if IIM calls? Suggest that you rethink your list of references. Also, tell them personally about your application.

Regards

Subhankar

I kinda disagree here. There is no information given that this for a reference check. There is a possibility that a good reference can be given by someone else who is not my manager. Also reference check is limited to the current company only.

I think the college should check only if the candidate is comfortable or after the candidate has taken the admission and communicated the same in the company.

Anyways, I will call up and speak to the PGPX committee

Precisely my point. A good reference can be given by someone who is not your boss. Therefore, I asked you to revisit the list of your references.

Regards

All the best to the R1 applicants.I will be applying in Round 2. Kindly advise me on Length and format of Recommendation letters that will be required. I need to inform the relevant people so that they can write accordingly.
There's no recommendation in the first stage of application. Reference will be required post getting an interview invite.

Recommendation letters are not required at all. Only three professional reference (doesn’t necessarily have to be your boss)

The no of applicants would be much more but the ratio of interview invite would be roughly 40-50% only

I searched on the website but could not find this data. Will it be possible for you to share the link?

Just wait for a few days, probably just after round 1 they might be busy. If you don't receive any change, call them or email them regarding this issue
