Hey guys, I'm preparing my application and trying to apply before the November deadline. Had a question about the recommendation required. Is it alright to submit just one recommendation? Or is it better to submit 2 letters of recommendation?

I was planning to have two but ended up with one when I submitted in October. My second recommender had helped me with the other schools but got staffed on a hectic engagement during the deadline for this school. In the end, I still got an invite since the requirement is just one.

This is just one piece of the application. If you have two people that can write you a stellar rec, then submitting two is great. However, I caution that I wouldn't find a person that's not familiar with my work or personality just for the heck of having two recommendations. That person may have a hard time coming up with examples of your skills. IMO, having one great rec and one mediocre rec would leave more questions in the air (also depending on the roles of those people) than one great rec that shows confidence in your abilities.

2Y, R1, done with the interview.
Do we know how long it takes for Cornell to send the final decision post the interview? Or are they going to make us wait till the 20th of Dec?
I got deposit deadlines at other schools and this is putting me in a difficult spot.

In a similar vein, I got an acceptance from BC but am still waiting on Cornell and other schools, while the BC enrollment deadline given to me was 11/22 (they extended it to 12/7). BC adcom mentioned I could ask other schools for expedited decisions, so if that’s true, maybe try that?

Oh I did consider both - asking my program for an extension and other programs for an early decision. But I don't want Cornell to take it the wrong way. Cornell is my first choice school and I don't want to mess with the natural order of things. The adcom interviewer seemed friendly enough but a) I think that's their job and b) I don't want to take their politeness for granted. Plus for the early decision to make sense I would need it by next week and I think that's an unfair request to make haha. Makes more sense in your case though, I did read somewhere that if Cornell likes you and wants to admit you they could do it around the 4 week mark post the interview so kudos on the 7th Dec extension, you might just get lucky.

Hey All,

So 15th is upon us. Is it safe to presume that not having received an interview invite till now, means that we won't get an invite today?

Hi maverick1865. Thank you! I got interviewed in campus last Friday (Nov 9th). They sent me the email yesterday said the release of admission would be on rolling basis (deadline Dec 15 for round 1). Good luck!
