I’m located in a large US city as well. Your location doesn’t do much for expediting the process. It’s really all about interviewer availability. There were/are tons of Kellogg alumns in my city but I still didn’t hear anything until after the waiver notifications went out at the 6 week mark. (I didn’t get a waiver with everyone else)
To be perfectly honest, although Kellogg says that a waiver doesn’t affect your chances of getting in, I’m not sure I agree with that....maybe it’s true for an average candidate but given my round 1 experience I am not sure that I would’ve been admitted if I had not gotten an interview. Also I don’t remember anyone on here who got a waiver from round 1 and then got an interview.
Sorry if this is coming off as overly negative, that’s not my intention at all I just want other applicants to be aware that you definitely want an interview and not a waiver. And if there is anything that you can do to guarantee an interview (like traveling to campus) and Kellogg is your top choice I would absolutely do it.
