Could you explain how this happened? On the WL myself and would love to hear your story!

Posted from my mobile device

Probably somebody declined their offer. Actually, I myself did before the first deposit deadline. If the place becomes free, they will pick the first best candidate from WL.

I think the person wants to know if the admitted candidate was contacted about the interest in the school or any communication from the school?
Last year, they asked WL candidates of their interest on the WL position before last round results came out.

But you are right, it is when the admitted candidates walk out, the WLs get their chances - in most cases.

I haven't got an interview invite yet. Is there any hope now or have they sent out all the invites?

Haven't gone through last year's forum discussions but can I still expect an Interview invite from McCombs for the full time MBA class of 2020?

I applied on the last day of the R2 deadline (I think it was 9th Jan)

How do applications get reviewed? I interviewed all the way in January so I hope the notes aren't "rusty" compared to candidates who interview later on. Or have decisions already been made and now they are just filling up the rest of the class.

I spoke with a McCombs Ambassador Committee member during the Lunch and Learn session of my on-campus interview two weeks ago. He informed me that interviewers use a grading rubric to assign 1 of 4 grades for the interview:

1. Highly recommend for admission
2. Recommend for admission
3. Recommend with reservation
4. Do not recommend

As adcoms famously like to say, "We evaluate applications holistically." So your interview grade is just 1 in a portfolio of elements that the admissions committee will review during your final decision. Also, he confirmed that all students will be notified on the March 29th notification deadline in a single go.

What a bummer they announce so late compared to most other schools in round 2.

I’ve got decisions from all my schools but Texas and need to make a decision ASAP. Really weird how their decision date is so late. Any chance to call them and tell them you need a decision to weigh? Especially if you don’t have anything to lose with other admits?

That’s the nature of the beast. Depends where Texas sits in your personal ranks compared to your other offers. Would you accept without $$, if so then you should ask your admit schools for a deposit extension. Would you only accept with $$, then ask Texas for an early decision.

Deposit deadlines for January round pretty much fall in April so what's the rush?

Planning. Got a house to sell, new house to find, moving, GF start trying to find a new job asap, etc.

2 weeks is not going to make or break any of those moves you are trying to do. I doubt emailing adcom and asking for an expedited admissions decision will do anything to help your cause, in fact may hurt your application. But if you don't care, please do us the favor and be the guinea pig and report back what happened. Really curious.

I’ve got a slightly different question to ask. Say you got into McCombs and Marshall - which one would you choose? And why? Let’s say that the post MBA goal is tech consulting or product marketing for tech. And preferred location to work post-MBA is Silicon Valley.
